DANIEL PINGREE
WHO HAS FAITH?
HEBREWS 11:6
THESIS- We will be breaking down the components of faith using Hebrews 11:6, so that we may know what faith truly is.
INTRODUCTION- If you talked to a non-Christian and they asked you what faith was, could you explain?
1. what if they asked you to explain without scripture?
2. Unfortunately, most Christians give only partial answers.
3. Today, let us look at what faith must have so that we can better explain to others what faith is.
I. Those who have faith “believe that He exists.”
A. Those who have believed must have heard (Romans 10:17).
1. Hearing is not a guarantee that a belief will manifest.
2. Some of the family of Jesus had trouble believing (John 7:5).
3. Many have heard, even demons (James 2:19).
B. Those who have believed must have reason.
1. Many will hear, but few will reason the truth (Matthew 16:16).
2. Those who use reason, base it off experience (Hebrews 11:11).
II. Those who have faith “diligently seek Him.”
A. The seeking of the faithful is a reaction (Matthew 7:7-8).
1. Who are those who have reacted?
a) Noah reacted out of faith (Hebrews 11:7).
b) Abraham reacted out of faith (Hebrews 11:8).
2. How should we react in faith?
a) We should have a desire to no longer do our will.
b) We should have a desire to do the will of God (Philippians 2:13).
B. The seeking of the faithful is resolute.
1. No matter what… (Job 5:8-9).
2. We must be committed… (Jeremiah 29:13).
3. Those who are committed will be blessed… (Psalm 119:2).
III. Those who have faith know “that He rewards.”
A. We all need to know that we all have eternity ahead of us.
1. How should we know where our eternity will be?
2. The Bible makes it very clear (John 5:24; Romans 6:23).
B. We all need to know that we all will receive what is due to us.
1. We must all stand before the judgement seat (2 Cor. 5:6-10).
2. Those who have kept the faith will not fear their judgment.
CONCLUSION- From our study, we have seen that faith has different components.
1. Do you believe?
2. If you believe, have you acted on your belief?
3. All healthy faith has action…faith makes you move.
4. Today, I challenge you to move.
