Introduction
In the Bible,
We can see that
Sometimes, in a special way, God leads his people to the right way.
When we see the story,
We also hope that God lead our life.
Because his leading gives us
the safety in trouble,
the blessing in our life, and
the eternal life in future.
Don’t you want to have the experience?
So today, let’s see how God leads his people and
what should we do when God leads us .
# Body
At first, let’s see how God leads his people.
There are many methods in the Bible.
For example,
1) God appeared directly to his people and said what to do.
For example, God directly called Moses in the wildness and gave his his mission. “Save my people from the Egypt.”
And also
Jesus appeared in front of The apostle Paul on the road to Damascus and then Paul was converted.
Or..
2) God appeared in a vision or dream.
For example, in the Old Testament, God appeared Joseph and gave him a vision.
Also, in New Testament,
The angel of God appeared in the dream of Joseph who is the father of Jesus,
And Said, “
“Get up, take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill him.”
When they had dangerous situation,
God showed what to do.
So they could escape from the threaten.
3) By word of his servant - prophet
And third, through the prophets,
God showed his will to his people.
God sent them with message and they had spoken instead of God.
So Israelite could know the will of God by prophets.
# Into the Bible
In these methods, God leads his people.
Especially, look at today’s bible.
An angel of God appeared in the vision of Cornelius who is a centurion.
And said,
“Cornelius!”
“What is it, Lord?”
“Your prayers and gifts to the poor have come up as a memorial offering before God.
5 Now send men to Joppa to bring back a man named Simon who is called Peter.
6 He is staying with Simon the tanner, whose house is by the sea.”
Through today’s story, we can know that
The angel of God came to Cornelius, because God sent him to show what to do.
What is that?
God exactly said that send men to Joppa to bring back Peter.
Why?
Because it is so necessary for Cornelius to meet Peter for him and his family and God’s plan.
So God said what to do.
It is amazing story.
Don’t you want to hear the God’s direct messages?
But we don’t know how to listen the God’s direct messages.
Let’s find the hint through the bible.
Look at ver 4.
The angel said,
““Your prayers and gifts to the poor have come up as a memorial offering before God.”
In this sentence, we can know that
His prayers and gifts to the poor is to come up to God.
And God shows him the next step.
Through the verse,
We can know that
Cornelius did not just pray to God one time.
Cornelius did not just give gifts to those in need one time.
He had been
praying to God and
giving something to the needy regularly. .
And then
At last, God sent his angel to Cornelius.
And said what to do.
In this story,
We can get some lessons.
If we want to know the leading from God,
We also need to pray to God continually and
We should live according to the will of God.
Although God do not answer to us instantly,
Don’t be disappointed.
Keep going on prayer and devout life!
If so,
Someday when God think our prayer as memorable offering,
God would show us his will.
Therefore,
Let’s keep going on prayer and devote and God-fearing life before God.
# After getting the leading of God.
And next,
Let’s see what to do after having God’s leading.
If God says something to us,
What should we do?
Actually, many Christians want to know the will of God.
But everyone cannot obey to the will of God.
For example, in the age of Jeremiah,
People wanted to know the will of God while going to the Egypt.
They asked to Jeremiah,
“What is a God’s will? Show us. Don’t be lie. We really want to know it.
6 Whether it is favorable or unfavorable, we will obey the Lord our God, so that it will go well with us, for we will obey the Lord our God.” Jeremiah 42:6 (NIV)
So Jeremiah answered,
“God wants you to surrender to the Babylon. Do not go down to the Egypt. If you go to the Egypt, you will die in the land with plagues.”
But what is the answer of Israel?
They said,
“You are lying! The Lord our God has not sent you. You may hand us over to the Babylonians.”
And then they did not obey to the will of God.
In this story,
We can know that
It is so difficult to obey to the will of God
Although we know his will.
If we know the will of God,
What should we do?
Look at today’s story.
After knowing the will of God,
Cornelius sent men to Joppa to bring back a man named Simon Peter.
He did it quickly and exactly.
Through this story, we can know that
We also need to obey the will of God quickly and exactly.
If we obey it, God will show us the next step.
If we obey it again, God will show us another next step.
In this way, God will lead our life.
How about you?
Do you want to be leaded by God?
If so,
Do not forget today’s story.
God is alive and
He wants to lead our life continually.
So he is now speaking in a lot of methods.
Through the bible,
through the sermon of his servant, And
Through The Holy Spirit,
God continually speaks to us in our mind.
In this situation, we need to listen to his voice and
We need to obey to his will.
If so,
God will lead our life and
We will always be safe and prosperous in God.
