1Corthinian 9:16
For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel!
What is Preaching???
The act of exhorting, prophesying, reproving, teaching.
What is the Gospel???
The Good News. Always Points to Jesus.
Preaching Should
1. Edify and Challenge (the story of Abraham Lincoln)
2. Solid and sound
2tim 2:15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth.
3. Powerful 1thes 1:5
Because our gospel came to you not simply with words, but also with power, with the Holy Spirit and with deep conviction. You know how we lived among you for your sake
4. Not Deceitful to glorify one’s self
1thes 2:3-6
For our exhortation does not come from error or impurity or by way of deceit;
but just as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, so we speak, not as pleasing men, but God who examines our hearts.
For we never came with flattering speech, as you know, nor with a pretext for greed— God is witness—
nor did we seek glory from men, either from you or from others, even though as apostles of Christ we might have asserted our authority
5. Bold
2corth 3:12-13 Therefore, since we have such a hope, we are very bold.
We are not like Moses, who would put a veil over his face to keep the Israelites from gazing at it while the radiance was fading away.
Preaching is not what You do it Truly is what you are.
You not a preacher because you preach
You Preach because you are a Preacher.
It should be in you always even when you are not given a platform.
Mark 16:15
And He said to them, “ Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation
Preaching the Gospel is Preparing the way for the lords return
Matthew 24:14
This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come.
Preaching- 3 p's
1. Pray- to reach God by faith.
2. Praise- Connect (by faith)
3. Preach- Speaking word, increasing people faith.
Romans 10:17
So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Roman 10:13-15
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace
-Followed by demonstration
1Corth 2:4 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:
Never get up to preach and not know where you are going.

Matthew 15:14
And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.
* Word- To preach you need a word
You get word from intimate relationship with God
-Nobody wants to hear your heart.
- God's heart the closer you get to God the more he reveals to you
Mark 4:34
But without a parable spake he not unto them: and when they were alone, he expounded all things to his disciples.
Always have a word. Always be in fellowship with God
2tim 4:2-5
Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction.
For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.
They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.
But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry.
For I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time has come for my departure.
Questions
- How do I get the word, what is it.
*Passion
What is your Passion???
- what move you?
Prayer
Meditation
Reading the word
- As you pray, meditate, and read the word then the word or revelation will come.
- God will reveal the word that your church needs.
-What do I do when I get a word or revelation?
Question to ask
- look at what is God saying?
- Who is He saying it to?
- Why is God saying this?
- How do I say it?
- what is the context
* Study to preach
There is no substitute for studying
- Pick a scripture
- Know the scripture context
- Word study,
ex: Salvation in Greek.
* Style
- Be who you are (most important)
- What is your personality?
- Look at other preachers.
Not everyone is meant to preach like TD Jakes
Why Preach with notes
- Help you in your Studies
- You can use to build
- You can preach the message more than once.

2. Narrative- Story (telling a story in the text such as Jonah in the whale.
3. Textual message – a sermon that is taken from a scripture text (often just a few verses)
