Imagine if you could do one thing in your life only once, What would that be?

Explain Zachariah situation in being selected to come into the Holy Place.

Every great reality began with an idea.

The invention of the iPhone by Steve Jobs came from his idea of having one device for all our communications and entertainment.
Now the idea is not the reality itself but the preparation for that reality.
God had an idea too that He wanted to make real. Luke 1:5-25. Explanatory reading. Basic but important Ideas.
He wanted to save the world an so He is announcing to Zachariah his idea that He is about to create the last Prophet that would prepare the world for the Savior. (After 400 years of silence).

Why share your idea with an old man that doesn't even have a son?

You need to understand, in those days a married man without a son was considered abandoned by God, especially if the man and his wife were old. That means that they were destined to die without kids. Or in other words, Abandoned by God.
It's like if Steve Jobs come to a retreat center where only Old people live and shares his idea of the iPhone and invites one of them to become the designer and engineer of this new device. Yeah, that's not gonna happen on this earth But God looks at different things.

God saw Zachariah's active faith

Luke 1:6 NET
They were both righteous in the sight of God, following all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blamelessly.
Now His life of following God didn't show big results for many years. Until the day it did.

How is your faith? Is it active or is dead?

Do you say you believe in Jesus but do nothing about it?
Do you even go to church? And if you go are you participating with God's people or you are just consuming?
Do you complain that God doesn't speak to you but do you care about what he has to say?
I believe God has chosen you for a special mission But you will not be able to see it nor experience it until you start participating and actively seeking His truth.
Imagine if Zachariah didn't go to church that day when the lot fell upon Him. He would have missed the message about his son. And who knows if John the Baptist would have become the forerunner of the Savior of the World.
