THE APPLICATION
What can we learn from the Leper’s Attitude?
-the Leper was very aware of his LIFE situation but is it not interesting how CLUELESS WE CAN BE of ours!!! Jesus said in
Matt. 7:21...
How deceived we can be!
- Matt. 23: 37-39 “Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were not willing. 38 Look, your house is left to you desolate. 39 For I tell you, you will not see me again until you say, ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.’”
Take Home Point:
Before a Holy God, we are all Leprous (unclean). Our Sins have made us unclean and we desparately need a Savior!
11 For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. 12 It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, 13 while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, 14 who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.
4 The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. 5 For what we preach is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake. 6 For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” t made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ.
15 Even to this day when Moses is read, a veil covers their hearts. 16 But whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. 17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 18 And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate a the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
It was illegal for lepers to approach others; they had to keep their distance and cry out, “Unclean, unclean!” (See Lev. 13:44–46.) But this man had heard about Jesus and was certain that He would heal him (1 Tim. 2:4; 2 Peter 3:9). Technically, Jesus was made “unclean” when He touched the man, but His touch brought immediate healing. For the ritual of restoration the healed leper had to experience, see Lev. 14; and note that the ritual is a picture of Christ’s atoning work. The compassion of Jesus is mentioned three other times by Mark (6:34; 8:2; 9:22).
