Aliens – The Reward in God’s Plan

Introduction

Christianity makes us different!

So many times we look at the hassles we will get from our “friends”

Luke 6:22 - 22  " Blessed are you when men hate you, and ostracize you, and insult you, and scorn your name as evil, for the sake of the Son of Man.

It doesn’t say feel blessed…

We are BLESSED by seeing these people as they really are!

Are these people really our friends if they are willing to ridicule us or insult us?

Does that define “cool”?

Is that showing friendship?

We are aliens in the world

1. 1 Peter 2:9-11 - 9 But you are A CHOSEN RACE, A royal PRIESTHOOD, A HOLY NATION,A PEOPLE FOR God's OWN POSSESSION, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; 10  for you once were NOT A PEOPLE, but now you are THE PEOPLE OF GOD; you had NOT RECEIVED MERCY, but now you have RECEIVED MERCY. 11  Beloved, I urge you as aliens and strangers to abstain from fleshly lusts which wage war against the soul. NASU
2. Philippians 3:20 - For our citizenship is in heaven, from which also we eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ; NASU
3. Ephesians 2:19 – fellow citizens with the saints

Hebrews 11:6 - And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must 1) believe that He is and that 2) He is a rewarder of those who seek Him (continually). NASU

We also tend to look at the “fun” we are missing out on

1 John 5:3 - 3 For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not burdensome.

If we live by God’s commands is being out of place all we get? So what is the reward for being an alien? Living as an alien in this world?

Physical/Emotional Rewards

John 10:9-10 - came that they may have life, and have it abundantly. 

1. Safety and protection
1. No teenage pregnancy, No STDs or AIDS #. No alcohol related deaths, No drug addiction
2. No broken families/marriages - confidence of a Christian mate

Spiritual Rewards

1. An accurate guide through the rest of our lives…the Bible
1. 2 Timothy 3:16 - All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness;
2. Confidence that we are loved and forgiven
1. John 3:16 - "For God so loved the world…
2. 1 John 1:7 - but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.
3. We have “friends” that are truly friends- for life (Not all church friends, but…)
1. Hebrews 11:24-26 - 24 By faith Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter, 25 choosing rather to endure ill-treatment with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin, 26  considering the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures of Egypt; for he was looking to the reward.
4. We have Purpose
1. Matthew 5:13-16 – We are to be salt (preserve and flavor) and light
2. WE ARE TO BE REWARD FOR OTHERS!!!

Eternal Reward

1. No torment in hell
1. Luke 16:24 -"And he cried out and said, ' Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus so that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool off my tongue, for I am in agony in this flame.'
2. Solomon’s Warning - Ecclesiastes 11:9 - Rejoice, young man, during your childhood, and let your heart be pleasant during the days of young manhood. And follow the impulses of your heart and the desires of your eyes. Yet know that God will bring you to judgment for all these things.
2. Heaven
1. 1 Peter 1:3-4 - be born again to a living hope…4 to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you,

Heaven is not the only reward.. Live an abundant life, be some else’s reward and you will be rewarded!
