The Walk
Colossians 2:6–7 — Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, 7 rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.
PRAYER—WALK IN HIM
Colossians 2:9–15 — For IN HIM the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, 10 and YOU have been FILLED IN HIM, who is the head of all rule and authority.
Filled—Fully immersed into the life of God/Think ocean
Immersed into an ocean of God’s forgiveness
Immersed into an ocean of God’s grace
Immersed (FILLED) into the life of God.
11 IN HIM also you were circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ (FREED FROM SIN’S DOMINON/DOMINATION)
12 having been buried WITH HIM in baptism, in which you were also raised with him THROUGH FAITH in the powerful working of God, who raised him from the dead. 13 AND YOU, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, GOD MADE ALIVE TOGETHER WITH HIM (I am alive with JEUS), having forgiven us ALL our trespasses, 14 BY CANCELING the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This HE SET ASIDE, nailing it to the cross (STOP CARRYING AROUND YOUR GUILT LIST). 15 He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him—I am alive in Jesus.
Your life has changed because of Jesus—focus on Jesus
LEARN to live out the change—WALK in JESUS
Living out the change involves a NEW MINDSET
Colossians 3:1–21 If then you have been raised with Christ, SEEK (KEEP SEEKING) THE THINGS THAT ARE ABOVE, WHERE CHRIST IS, seated at the right hand of God. (THE SEAT OF AUTHORITY)
2 SET YOUR MINDS (COMMAND/CONSISTENTLY) on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.
AS YOUR MIND GOES, YOU GO
You generally move in the direction of your thoughts
DIRECT YOUR ATTENTION, YOUR MIND TO THINGS ABOVE.
WHAT ARE THE THINGS ABOVE?
Think about angels? Celestial Kingdom?
Colossians 2:10 — 10 and you have been filled in Him (JESUS), who is the head of all rule and authority.
Matthew 6:10 — Your kingdom come (KINGDOM OF CHRIST), your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
2 SET YOUR MINDS on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.
FOCUS on Jesus/ Your relationship with Jesus
Jesus’ reign/ HIS kingdom/His purposes/ HIS plan
Colossians 1:9–10 — 9 And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of His (GOD’S) will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, 10 so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him (YOUR KINGDOM COME IN ME, YOUR WILL BE DONE IN ME): bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God . . .
AS YOUR MIND GOES, YOU GO
Colossians 3:2–3SET YOUR MINDS on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. 3 For YOU HAVE DIED, and YOUR LIFE IS HIDDEN WITH CHRIST in God.
Living out the change involves a NEW MINDSET
Romans 12:2 — 2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
LEARN this—WORK AT THIS
Living out the change involves a NEW OUTLOOK
Colossians 3:4 — When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.
THE KING IS COMING
YOU WILL APPEAR WITH HIM—this IS your future
What do I do in the in between?
Living out the change involves a NEW PATH to WALK
WALK IN JESUS
WALKING IN JESUS REQUIRES DYING TO SELF
Luke 9:23–24 If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. 24 For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it.
LIVING INVOLVES DYING
Colossians 1:4–11 — When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. 5 PUT TO DEATH therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. 6 On account of these the wrath of God is coming.
(Why would you living like those who will be judged?) 7 In these you too once walked, when you WERE living in them. 8 But now you must PUT THEM ALL AWAY (PUT THEM BEHIND YOU, J.B. PHILLIPS): anger, wrath, malice, slander, and obscene talk from your mouth. 9 Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old self with its practices 10 and have put on the new self, which is BEING RENEWED (Continuous activity) in knowledge after the image of its CREATOR—JESUS. 11 Here there is not Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave, free; but Christ is all, and in all.

DEATH OUTSIDE THE PATH
Colossians 3:12–14 — 12 Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, 13 bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. 14 And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.

WHERE ARE YOU GOING TO FOCUS?
AS YOUR MIND GOES, YOU GO
Colossians 3:1–4If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. 3 For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.
LORD’S SUPPER
Matthew 26:26–28 — 26 Now as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and after blessing it broke it and gave it to the disciples, and said, “Take, eat; this is my body.” 27 And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he gave it to them, saying, “Drink of it, all of you, 28 for this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.
Colossians 2:13–14 — 13 And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, 14 by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross.
