Trick or Treat

Trap - A device used as a snare in hunting or warfare to capture animals or people; a tactic, plot or scheme designed to deceive someone into trouble or sin.

Satan has set up traps (tricks) to take you out. Don’t fall for his traps. Let’s look how some of the traps works.

He want to trap us by influencing our mind.

2 Corinthians 11:3

But I am afraid lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, your minds may be led astray from the sincerity and the purity of devotion to Christ.

Eve was deceived because satan was able to get in her mind. Our mind is the biggest controller in our bodies. Satan knows if he can have your thoughts then he already has you. You probably can’t control your thoughts but you do not have to entertain it. A scientist said if the thought last longer than 2 seconds it then becomes a memory. Memories are embedded in your mind. This mind as soon as a wrong thought comes to you - immediately cast it down. Don’t entertain the thought.

Application - Guard your mind! Satan’s biggest traps is against your mind. You guard your mind in the word of God. I often say you do not have to read every day three and four chapters but read something. I am not against music genres but make sure you are listening to the word of God to music sometimes throughout the week. Try to stay focus within the space you are in - sometimes our daydreams can lead us down the wrong paths. Make sure you are meditating. Put on a calming track and allow your mind not to think for 5 minutes and then repeat out loud a vision you have for yourself. This is a few way to guard your mind.

He want to trap you by planning the attack: The bible tells us to be aware of Satan’s schemes. One of the words to describe scheme is plans. Don’t think because it happened today Satan just planned it today. He’s been planning and plotting against you since your birth. He do not want you to fulfill the assignment God has for your life or enjoy your life.-

Genesis 37

So Joseph went after his brothers and found them near Dothan.18 But they saw him in the distance, and before he reached them, they plotted to kill him.

19 “Here comes that dreamer!” they said to each other. 20 “Come now, let’s kill him and throw him into one of these cisterns and say that a ferocious animal devoured him. Then we’ll see what comes of his dreams.”

The brothers planned to trap Joseph.

Another kind of trap - is words. Satan want to use your mouth as a weapon for him.

Jeremiah 9:8

Their tongue is a murderous arrow, it speaks deceit.

Isaiah 29:21

those who mislead a person into sin with a word; and set a trap for the ⌊arbitrator⌋ in the gate and guide away the righteous by emptiness.

Satan wants to use your actions as Traps

Judges 16:4-6

After this he fell in love with a woman in the wadi of Sorek, and her name was Delilah. And the rulers of the Philistines came up to her and said, “Entice him and find out what makes his strength so great, and how we can overpower him, so that we may bind him up in order to subdue him; each of us will give you eleven hundred pieces of silver. So Delilah said to Samson, “Please tell me what makes your strength so great, and with what can you be tied up to subdue you?”

He want to trap you by times in the Earth. Such as COVID

The Lexham English Bible Chapter 9

For man does not know his time. Just as fish are caught in a cruel net and like birds who are seized in a snare, so also ⌊humans⌋ are ensnared at a cruel time when it falls suddenly upon them.

All of this is his tricks but let’s look at God’s treats!

The bible says he came that I might have life and have it in abundance. The bible declares we are the head and not the tail.

The bible declares the blessings of the Lord makes rich and add no sorrow. The bible declares wealth and riches are in my house.

God can turn it around. Please stop beating yourself about past mistakes. I have to repent of this often. I always look back on my life and ask myself why didn’t you do this or why didn’t you do that but if I stay in that place, I am allowing the enemy to set it as a trap in my life.
