What Is Mercy?

Mercy is not:

An easy-going attitude
Some see mercy as an attitude that does not see a problem or ignores it
An easy trap when society cares less for justice and right or wrong
God is merciful, yet we could not describe him as having an easy-going attitude towards sin
Just sympathy - James 2:15f

Mercy is:

We often think of mercy in a legal way —> leniency towards the guilty
Chart:
An outgrowth of our recognition of our own spiritual state: we recognize our spiritual bankruptcy
We mourn our sins
This affects our view of self
We begin to huger and thirst for a solution of righteousness
This leas us to act on our sympathy for others in the same condition
