Intro

If you have ever asked for directions outside of the GPS era, you might recall the person telling you about various landmarks toward your destination. Whenever I am in the Bahamas, I don't have my GPS so I'm left to ask for directions. When I'm on the Island of Eleuthera they always say "take the Queen's Highway" and they give various Landmarks to look out for. Well God is telling you to take the KINGS Highway and He is giving the Landmarks toward destination SALVATION!

Background

Assyria was rising in power
Jerusalem would be taken over by Assyria because
King Ahaz thought he could bargain with Assyria by letting them police the area. Assyria took over.
King Hezekiah trusted God for total deliverance from this super power known as Assyria
Jerusalem would be deported to Assyria to be completely assimilated, destroying their national identity.
This was a theological issue for Israel! (as they were set apart by God, living in a land promised to them by God)
This issue with Assyria and Jerusalem is a picture of the relationship with Humanity and sin. Sin always takes over! Humanity myst trust God for total deliverance from sin!

Scripture

Isaiah 35:8–10 CSB
A road will be there and a way; it will be called the Holy Way. The unclean will not travel on it, but it will be for the one who walks the path. Fools will not wander on it. There will be no lion there, and no vicious beast will go up on it; they will not be found there. But the redeemed will walk on it, and the ransomed of the Lord will return and come to Zion with singing, crowned with unending joy. Joy and gladness will overtake them, and sorrow and sighing will flee.

Main Body

Isaiah 35:8 CSB
A road will be there and a way; it will be called the Holy Way. The unclean will not travel on it, but it will be for the one who walks the path. Fools will not wander on it.

A “Road” and “Way”

DECISION

There is only two roads you can take in this life. You must make a DECISION.
You are going somewhere.
DO YOU KNOW WHERE YOU’RE GOING TO
Do you know
Where you’re going to?
Do you like the things ?
That life is showing you
Where are you going to?
Do you know?- Diana Ross
The “Road” is a method to travel to a destination
God Provides a “road” to the destination
God is TRUSTWORTHY
God’s GRACE is on display
He is an HELP in this HUMAN CALAMITY
“WAY” is a custom or behavior
Only a certain custom/behavior is found on this road.
In Florida almost every other road is whats known as a Toll. Not just anybody can travel on a toll road. You need 1 of 2 things to ride on a toll road, a license plate or a specific tag. The tag has money on it and the plate can be charged. The specifics to get on a toll road are clear. In order to pay the toll fee you must have what the toll authority declares to satisfy the toll road conditions. If not satisfied there is a penalty to pay.

DIRECTION

Isaiah 35:8“it will be called the Holy Way. The unclean will not travel on it, but it will be for the one who walks the path. Fools will not wander on it.”
“Way” is a particular behavior to a particular place. In this Case it is the Kingdom of Heaven.
To travel this road you need DIRECTION.
Matthew 7:14 CSB
How narrow is the gate and difficult the road that leads to life, and few find it.
This road of DIRECTION is a DISCIPLINED road!
This road as the text says is the “Holy Way”
The road for those who have been set apart can only travel this road.
Those spiritually polluted would not take this road. (They have made a decision)
God would make Israel an example for the world to see!
This is a restricted road!
Fools will not wander on it
This road will be so plain and straight that even the foolish will not mistake the way.
Isaiah 35:9 CSB
There will be no lion there, and no vicious beast will go up on it; they will not be found there. But the redeemed will walk on it,
This road is a safe and secure road because of the SAVIOR!

DESTINATION

Isaiah 35:10 CSB
and the ransomed of the Lord will return and come to Zion with singing, crowned with unending joy. Joy and gladness will overtake them, and sorrow and sighing will flee.
DECISION, determines DIRECTION, which determines your DESTINATION.
Ransomed- Those who have been set free by the Lord have an address change
Zion- The City of David (Jerusalem- The city of peace, The place where God lives
Psalm 132:13 CSB
For the Lord has chosen Zion; he has desired it for his home:
There is a DESTINATION! Heaven is only for the Holy!
Revelation 21:4 CSB
He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more; grief, crying, and pain will be no more, because the previous things have passed away.

Conclusion

There are two roads.
One leads to life, one leads to death.
Choose the Holy Highway
