The Truth About You

2 Corinthians 5:17 NKJV
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
Identity is:
The distinguishing character or personality of an individual.
The condition of being the same with something described or asserted.
Note: It’s how you see yourself!
It means that which makes you different from others
Everyone has distinct personality traits that are unique and diverse in nature.
Your identity is rooted in who you come from.
Are we “in Christ”?
Are we one with Christ?
Ephesians 2:10 NKJV
For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
Your Identity is made of:
Your Past - Where you came from
Your Present - Who you are now
Your future - Where you are headed
Your personal identity—how you see yourself—is often shaped by your early experiences in life.
Maybe you had a great childhood and have always had a relatively healthy self-image. Then again, maybe your parents or grandparents said and did things that made you doubt your worth.
These experiences will mess up your self-image. These things can cause you to become controlling, manipulative, angry, critical, negative, overbearing and judgmental. You become what you grow up with.
We should never look for our identity in things and people!
Jesus paid the price for our total deliverance.
We struggle to receive His gracious gift.
We can know that we are born again, that we love Jesus—and believe that our sins are forgiven and that we would go to heaven when we die. But still have no peace, no joy, and no victory in our everyday life.
I can feel condemned all the time. We can hate ourselves except for times when we are working toward a goal, because think that goals give us a sense of self-worth. This will lead to feeling worn-out, burned-out, frustrated, and absolutely miserable!
I encourage you to saturate your mind with the truth of God’s Word. It is filled with reminders of His unconditional love for you!
Colossians 2:9–10 NKJV
For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.
1 Corinthians 6:17 NKJV
But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him.
1 Peter 2:9 NKJV
But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;
In Conclusion let’s remember who we are and look up! look to the things above where Christ is!
Colossians 3:1–3 NKJV
If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
