This is a time where we are going through. There is a struggle going on. People are struggling financially, with family issues and with health issues, from the normal diseases to this new Covid pandemic. Political and racial tensions are running high. People are scared ,frightened and disillusioned and lost. If there was ever a time for God to be center stage then this is the time. I like how president elect said not only to keep the faith but spread the faith. That is what we are to do spread our faith. it is the word of God that can be a panacea to our problems, it is our faith and hope in God that will lead us to that balm in Gilead, for he that promised is faithful. I turn to the Book of Hebrews to a time when they too were struggling with the world.

19 Therefore, brethren, having mboldness 6to enter nthe Holiest by the blood of Jesus, 20 by a new and oliving way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, 21 and having a High Priest over the house of God, 22 let us pdraw near with a true heart qin full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for rHe who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, 25 snot forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and tso much the more as you see uthe Day approaching.

Old Way Versus New Way

Hebrews was written to Jews who were going through. It was written when they were being persecuted , a time when they were feeling lost and disconnected. It was written to instruct, to show them that belief in Jesus was not only a fulfillment of the Jewish way, but a better way. I don’t want to spend a lot of time on the Israelite form of worship, but in order to understand the passage that was read to you earlier and that is the subject of my sermon i must share a little of the history with you.
The Israelite form of worship was one that had a hierarchy when it came to the worship of God.There was the high priest, the priest and then the people,
Way back , when Moses was presenting the covenant of the Lord, God called for the people to come to the mountain but Exodus says God voice was like thunder, and the people were afraid, and told Moses ,you speak to God, and tell us what he says and we will do it. God’s plan was always to make his people a nation of priest but the people were not willing. For the worshippers of God our a chosen people a royal priesthood. but because of the unwillingness of the people, a system was set up where the priest went to God for the people.
in the tabernacle, the place where it was believed that the presence of God was to be found, the innermost part of the temple was the holy of Holies. The place where the ark of the covenant was kept, separated by a veil only to entered into by the High priest, and only once a year, and then only with the blood of a sacrificed animal. The Blood of the sacrifice was the key that allowed the high priest to enter into the presence of God. This priest would go to the presence of God, to seek forgiveness for past sins and blessings for the coming year. If the priest survived his encounter with the presence of God then ,past sins were forgiven and they were good for the coming year. this was repeated every year.
But the author of Hebrews explained ,how Jesus was was a better high priest. One he was the son of God, and he could be in the presence of God for he was the son of God. And by his death of the cross, he to went into the holy of Holies, and he too shed blood. But his sacrifice his blood was a one time event not a year to year thing. that his shedding of blood no longer restricted God to one man for a nation, but once again allowed God to accessible to his people. We, our a chosen people we are royal priesthood as state in Peter.
So when faced with adversity Hebrews tells us hold on to your faith, hold on to him who is faithful hold on. Go to God and be with him, and why can we, approach the holy of holies. why can we seek audience with the almighty God.
why can we dare seek the blessings of one who spoke light into creation, why can we deem ourselves worthy , because of the blood of Jesus and the blood has made us bold.
the blood , the blood gives us assurance., the blood that gift that keeps on giving.
For the blood of Jesus has made us bold. Hebrews tells us that Jesus is making a new way to get to God , a new a living way. For although he died yet he lives, and his sacrifice is still paving a way to God. because what he shed on Calvary's cross was not the blood of an animal, bloop that congeals, blood that corrupts, that it was not something mixed with Hyssop, and sprinkled on the ark , it was not even the blood of passover marked on a door frame, , the blood of the living God, the blood of the savior, this was the blood of Jesus. flows pure, from now and forever.
And the blood has made us bold!

Let US

Hebrews in the scripture gives us a formula for going to God, a way to invoke the power of God, a way to receive that forgiveness of sin, and a blessing for future endeavors. A way that we can can access God by the power of thee blood.
Three things we must do.
Let us draw near
Let us hold fast.
Let us consider one another.
1. Draw near to God! Now is not the time to drift awaw, now is the time to get close.
Yeah there is a pandemic, but God
yeah there is turmoil but God!
Yes there are trials but God !
You may come as you are, but not as you like. You must come to God knowing that he is God. You must come with a true heart, and a pure conscience. You know now we must wash our hands ,use sanitizer, to prevent the spread of disease. When you come to God you must also clean your heart, and conscience. We can escape many evils, but where can one flee from a guilty conscience. Give it to Jesus. Be sprinkled with grace and receive his mercy and blessings.
For we are not worthy, but we can be sincere. Don’t confuse sincerity with worthiness, for if we wait till we f are worthy we will die unblessed. Not like the priest of old with outward sacrifices but with a willing and devoted heart. We come sincere to the the throne of God , no matter how unworthy pleading the blood of Jesus for the blood has made us bold.
2. Let us Hold fast! hold on stay with it don’t let go,
Keep the faith. Hope .
You see I believe that faith and hope are two sides of the same coin.
You have faith based on what Jesus has done but you have hope on what Jesus will do!
Faith because he healed you before hiope cause you know he will d oit again Hold on for the blood has made us bold
Faith because that storm you just came out of is over. jhope that you know if he will do it again.
And I can go to him again and again because I plead the blood .
Have confidence in your Jesus!
Have commitment to your Jesus!
Trust in your salvation
i plead the blood the sacrifice of jesus, and the blood has made me bold.
3. Let us consider one another. Consider one another in love, Consider one another in Good works. we must not only look up to God but outward towards each other. For how can you love God who you cannot see and not love your brother who you see everyday. we must spur each other. Just don’t keep the the faith but spread the faith. In this dark time the worrld needs light. The world needs the light of a savior, let your saved light shine. Looks works can’t saved you, but every good tree has some fruit. we must love one another.

He who Promised is Faithful

Hebrews 4 says let us go boldly to the throne of our gracious God, for there we will receive his mercy and we will find grace.
How can we do this! how can we show out. we can can show out because we know that that God will show up. And the one who has promised is faithful. Anybody here know that he is faithful
he is all powerful and and he is able.
He did for the Israelite on the banks of the red sea
he did fir the Hebrew boys in the fiery furnace
he did it for Daniel in the lions den
Did it for me on my sickbed, probably did it for you on your sick, bed, i know he has been away out of no way for somebody here.
he died on the that old rugged cross because he is faithful
he went down hell and set the the captives free because he his faithful
he rose on the third day with all power because he is faithful
He rose with all power because he is faithful
he rose with all power because he is able
he sits at the right hand of the father because he is faithful
he answers your prayers because he is able
I plead the blood because
He is the son God
was with God from the beginning
the word made flesh
for in the beginning was the word
God in the flesh
Bright and morning star
higher than angels
sitting at the right hand
author of our faith and a new covenant
captain of our salvation
defeater and ultimately the destroyer of the Devil
A new and better high priest
He is worthy
a compassionate God
A great shepherd
A great God
Somebody netter say something for he is worthy
I go boldly and I Plead the blood and the blood has made me bold!
