Week #5 - YAHWEH Shalom

Introduction

Stress all around us.

Government trying to relieve our stress.

“If I just had this, I would be at peace.”

The Lord is our peace.

The Problems Identified! (Judges 6:1-6)

The Israelites did evil in the eyes of the Lord. v. 1

The power of the Midianites was oppressive. v. 2

The Israelites hid in caves. v. 2

The Israelites cried out to the Lord. v. 6

Time to Re prioritize! (Judges 6:7-10)

The Lord sent the Israelites a prophet. v. 7

“I delivered you from the Egyptians.”

We must put God first.

We must have Perspective! (Judges 6:11-22)

The angel of the Lord came to Gideon. v. 11

“The Lord is with you, mighty warrior.” v. 12

“The Lord has abandoned us and given us into the hand of the Midianites.” v. 13

The Lord said to him, “Am I not sending you?” v. 14

Gideon says he is the least of all. v. 15

The Lord reminds him that I AM is with you. v. 16

The Lord is our Peace! (Judges 6:23-24)

God reassures Gideon that he will not die but have peace. v. 23

Gideon builds an altar and calls it “YAHWEH Shalom”. v. 24

Wrap-UP

The peace came not after the results of God’s deliverance but in the promise of God.

Found in God alone not in the goods.

I will have peace if I remain in HIM.
