Why Cain was Rejected
There is an exact parallel between the offering of Cain and the parable that Jesus told of the Pharisee and the tax collector who came to pray. God rejected the offering of Cain, and the Pharisee was also rejected as well.
The difference being between the two is an attitude of humility. ( see video entitled "Why Cain was rejected"
Both Able and the Tax Collector had one thing in common- both confessed they had nothing to offer- they considered themselves not worthy.
Cains' offering was representative of his own righteousness as was the prayer of the pharisee. "Going about to establish their own righteousness"
Abraham also knew that He had nothing to offer God to gains his promises his body being "as good as dead."
Ruth also had noting to offer God for his redemption, but depended on the Goel kinsman redeemer.
Rahab had noting to offer God for here salvation.
The law of representation and substitution is present over the entire story of the Bible. See the context of Romans 4 and 5. Isiah 53.
Justification by faith in the blood.
Justification by representation of the Second Adam.
Abel’s offering spoke of principle of salvation by the principle of representation.
Cain's offering was an offering of his own works.
