Matthew 25:1-13
Matthew 25:1-13
Matthew 25:1-13
This parable continues the theme of readiness, the last verse (13) echos the words of 24:42;
‘ 42 ‘Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come.’
Be ready!
It shows again the division between the the ready and the unready.
Like yesterday, there is a delay in the (Master) Bridgroom coming, and all ten bridgrooms fell asleep, so its not saying we should always be stood at the door looking and watching, the point is the readyness, the preperation, the work.
The ones who were ready, who were prepared went with the bridegroom and into the wedding banquet with him.
The unprepared, end up in the same state as the wicked servents from yesterday, outside, seperated from the bridgroom, not in the banquet/Party, not in the kingdom.
Jesus is the Bridgroom, the virgins (Bridemaids) are the church, saints, believers.
Those who are prepaired, who have been busy, done the work, are ready, they have lived a kingdom life, they have strived to make Gods Kingdom a reality in this life, they have lived under the rule of their King, their Lord and saviour, they have been his hands and feet, they have been busy.
(Illistration of satisfaction - terrible thirst quenched)
When Jesus comes they are ready and enter the Kingdom of God with him, and then they will experience life how it is meant to be, fullfilment, Satisfaction beyond anything we can imagine.
