Everything has cause and effect.

-2011 Meeting Katie story
-Tonight we talk about a relationship that has a cause and effect.
-Last night: Vertical. Today we see how it effects the horizontal.
-Context of last two days.

John 15:12

John 15:12 ESV
“This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.
-How has Jesus loved us?
Philippians 2:5–8 ESV
Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.
John 15:13 ESV
Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.
-Loved, served, forgive, grace, mercy, sacrifice, laid down himself.
-Does this mean we die on the cross for our friends?
-We can sacrifice our time and energy.
-Lay down our rights
-Wash their feet.
-Forgive those who dont deserve it
-Give grace thats hard to give.
-An encounter with the living God CHANGES us!

How are you doing on that? The vertical to the horizontal?

-Friendships built on grace, forgiveness, service and love?
-Dating relationships?
-Those who are not in our friend group, are not known by others, don’t quite fit in?

Our relationship with Christ does not just exist for the sake of ourselves, but also for the sake of others.

We are not just saved FROM something. We are saved FOR something.

Ephesians 2:10 ESV
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
-Good works prepared for those who don’t think like us, talk, spend friday night, etc. like us.
John 15:14–17 ESV
You are my friends if you do what I command you. No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you. You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you. These things I command you, so that you will love one another.
-You have been called friends of Jesus.
Knowing God deeper leads to showing God wider.
-Send out on mission.
