What Does The Bible Say?
Acts 1-9
8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 1:8 NLT)
God gave us the power and the plan to evangelize the world.
A great wave of persecution began that day, sweeping over the church in Jerusalem; and all the believers except the apostles were scattered through the regions of Judea and Samaria. 2 (Some devout men came and buried Stephen with great mourning.) 3 But Saul was going everywhere to destroy the church. He went from house to house, dragging out both men and women to throw them into prison. (Acts 8:1–3 NLT)
It took persecution to get the early church to fulfill God’s plan.
13 “But Lord,” exclaimed Ananias, “I’ve heard many people talk about the terrible things this man has done to the believers in Jerusalem! 14 And he is authorized by the leading priests to arrest everyone who calls upon your name.” 15 But the Lord said, “Go, for Saul is my chosen instrument to take my message to the Gentiles and to kings, as well as to the people of Israel. 16 And I will show him how much he must suffer for my name’s sake.” (Acts 9:13–16 NLT)
Use your pain to share your faith in God.
How Can We Obey?
Take the initiative to share your faith with others.
Question 1 of 5
Describe what your HotSpot is doing to fulfill God’s mission to bring the love and message of Jesus to your community and the world? (Mention the missionaries that your HotSpot supports, and what Share and Serve Events are you doing).
Question 2 of 5
Jesus told His followers that their ministry would occur in four distinct locations (Acts 1:8). How do you see God using you, your Christian community, and the worldwide church to share the gospel of Jesus across the globe?
Question 3 of 5
If a close friend or family member came to you and said, “I have watched your life and listened to your words and I want what you have. What must I believe and do to be saved?” What would you share with them?
Question 4 of 5
The church is a body, and every member is a specific part with a specific function (I Corinthians 12). What is one spiritual gift or talent that God has given you and how are you developing it?
Question 5 of 5
One of the great blessings of receiving Jesus is that we become children of God (Romans 8:14-17). What does it mean to say “I am a child of God?” How does your relationship with God grow and change when you learn to see yourself in this way?
