What Does The Bible Say?
Genesis 12 - 35
The Lord had said to Abram, “Leave your native country, your relatives, and your father’s family, and go to the land that I will show you. (Genesis 12:1 NLT)
God chose Abram (Abraham) and Sarai (Sarah), an unlikely couple.
2 I will make you into a great nation. I will bless you and make you famous, and you will be a blessing to others. 3 I will bless those who bless you and curse those who treat you with contempt. All the families on earth will be blessed through you.” 4 So Abram departed as the Lord had instructed, and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he left Haran. (Genesis 12:2-4 NLT)
God will make the new nation great.
God will make Abraham’s name great.
God will bless all who bless Abraham and curse the one who curses Abraham.
God will bless all the nations of the world through Abraham and the new nation. God will use the new nation to reveal his heart and his plan to win us back.
When we hear God’s call, it is our human nature to try help God out.
When we hear God’s call, we doubt God can use us.
“Take your son, your only son— yes, Isaac, whom you love so much—and go to the land of Moriah. Go and sacrifice him as a burnt offering on one of the mountains, which I will show you.” (Genesis 22:2 NLT)
God will test us when He wants to use us.
Let’s Review
The Lord observed the extent of human wickedness on the earth, and he saw that everything they thought or imagined was consistently and totally evil. 6 So the Lord was sorry he had ever made them and put them on the earth. It broke his heart. 7 And the Lord said, “I will wipe this human race I have created from the face of the earth. Yes, and I will destroy every living thing—all the people, the large animals, the small animals that scurry along the ground, and even the birds of the sky. I am sorry I ever made them.” (Genesis 3:21 NLT)
The Clue Of God’s Salvation: notice the parallel language between Genesis 22:2 and John 3:16
How Can You Obey:
It was by faith that Abraham obeyed when God called him to leave home and go to another land that God would give him as his inheritance. He went without knowing where he was going. (Hebrews 11:8 NLT)
God wants to use you, will you let him? Will you go wherever He tells you to go?
This Week’s Shareable:
God typically chooses people who have flaws or are unlikely candidates for leadership.
