Greeting
We are gathered here today in the sight and presence of God and love ones, to join together Jermaine and TeAndrea in holy matrimony, which is commended of the Apostle Paul to be honorable among God and man;
Giving Of Bride
And believing that this couple understands the kind of lifetime love and commitment as taught in God’s Word, it is my privilege to ask: “Who gives this woman to be married to this man?”
Prayer
Heavenly Father! As we come into Your presence today with thanksgiving and praise. We bless You for the declaration of Your guidance in our lives. We praise You for the understanding that You be concerned about every part of our lives, We ask that you bless this special occasion on this day and bless Jermaine and TeAndrea as they come before You and their family to join their lives together In Jesus name, we pray. Amen!
Address them both…
It was in the quiet orchards of the Garden of Eden that God made man in His own image. But the Bible tells us that God saw that it was not good for man to be alone. So, with loving care He removed a bone from Adams side from which to fashion Eve. And God brought Eve to Adam…just like God brought Jermaine to you TeAndrea. The Scriptures suggest that God specifically made Adam for Eve, and Eve for Adam Jermaine and TeAndrea, you have both affirmed that you believe God specifically purposed you to share life together. It is important for the both of you to learn something about receiving each other by observing the way God ordained it. God did not use a bone from Adams foot to suggest he should “lord it over” his wife. God did not take a bone from Adams head to suggest that Eve should “lord it over” her husband. God chose to use one of Adams ribs…suggesting that Eve was created to share life at Adams side and close to his heart. Also, since Adam was created first, it is suggested that God intends for man to initiate spiritual leadership in the home.
With that being said…
Addressing the man:
Jermaine, do you accept TeAndrea as equal to you as a person? Do you find in her the qualities that you respect, admire, and share that you believe you cannot live without for a lifetime? Do you intend to give freely to her and receive freely from her? Do you receive TeAndrea now to be your wife and do you promise to develop this relationship during your marriage?
(Man answers: “I do”, “Yes,” or “I will”)
Addressing the woman:
TeAndrea, do you accept Jermaine as an equal to you as a person? Do you find in him the qualities that you respect, admire, and share that you believe you cannot live without for a lifetime? Do you intend to give freely to him and receive freely from him? Do you receive Jermaine now to be your husband and do you promise to develop this relationship during your marriage. (Woman answers: “I do,” “Yes,” or “I will.”)

Jermaine and TeAndrea, I want you to know that love is a word that contains so much impact. Love gives, and because love gives, its most important goal is to make the other person happy. In other words…you can give without loving someone…BUT you cannot love someone without giving.
But the Apostle Paul’s said it best in…
1 Corinthians 13:4-7, 13 (NLT) - Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud 5 or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. 6 It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. 7 Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance…13 Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love.”
PRAYER – Blessing of Marriage – Diane Riley
Heavenly Father! The Giver of life and love, time and eternity. We come to You in the Mighty name of Jesus! Thanking You for keeping us and loving us. I ask You to bring Jermaine and TeAndrea, …earthly love to You. Teach them to know Your loving way, that their love may be like Yours for each other. As their love grows in Your image, grant them the grace, wisdom and compassion to show one another Your love.
Heavenly Father, bless, preserve, and keep them.
In the name of Jesus Christ, the highest expression of Your love for us…Amen!!
