The greek word for revelation is apokalypsis which god gave him to show to his servants the things that must soon take place. He made it know by sending his angel to his servant John. The unveiling of who Jesus the Messiah is critical to the endtime church today. Key in with me to vrs. 5, 6..... (b) to him be glory (doxa) and dominion (kratos) power; might forever and ever (aion) through out all ages-- amen. Listen, he is going to be honored, given honor by Holy angels, because God highly exalted him, and gave him a name which is above every name. That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth. And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (Phil. 2: 5-11) . So make no mistake or be in doubt , this book is about the glory that belongs to him and events are secondary. The revelation was made by him and it is about him and belongs to him! Col. 1: 15-18), Heb. 1: 3) ...
This book is not to be sealed or relegated or placed on the back burner of our lives. It is not to be banished as John was because of the lie.... “It can’t be understood or made plain”. Key in with me to vrs. 3— Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, ( propheteia ) and keep those things which are written there in: for the time is at hand. The apokalypsis was given to us because of his love for his church.
agapao— vrs. 5… to him who loves us......
makarios— happy; fortunate - Blessing- expression of divine favor- communicated-
The blessing comes from the Father to those that read and hear, even speak and honor his son in the sanctuary today!!!!. Just as Peter was blessed in Matt. 16: 13-19.... vrs. 17: Blessed art thou Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. It came from the Father, not human faculties. Even though we go through suffering for his sake, we are encouraged in knowing who is really is. Knowing his eyes are over the righteous and his ears open to our prayers. The Apostle Paul wrote: 2nd Cor. 4: 7-9 , We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed, we are perplexed, but not in despair, persecuted, but not forsaken, cast down but not destroyed. Through-out all this, we are blessed!!! (Phil. 4: 6) .... enduring hardships means we believe who he is and acknowledge or dependence on God, his son, and his provision! His Leadership-----
Facts: Most scholars today accept the inspiration was given to John the apostle as its author. Notably, it was written from the Island of Patmos where John was imprisoned because of the Word of God. He is also the author of the Johannine epistles. This book was written between 65-95 A.D. during the time of persecution and trial of the church (ekklisa) by Rome (Nero or Domitian emperors.
the literary writing or genre is an apocalpytic (for disclosing or unveiling end time information, that shows the divine wrath that will be unleashed against all evil and removal from the earth. Prophecy and a letter to the church are blended into the writing by the apostle as revealed to him. The main emphasis is the one who is given all glory, honor, and dominion who will transition the earth and transform it for his Father. The events are secondary......
