Qualifications of a Deacon II Timothy 3:8-10

The Word Deacon means: Servant

1. Dignified

2. Not double-tongued

3. Not an alcoholic

We have deacons posting photos on Social Media with alcoholic beverages. If they are not yours I would recommend that you be careful what you post as it is a reflection of Christ. If it is yours I would ask that you abstain from alcohol while serving as a Deacon. If this is something that you are struggling with I would ask that you seek the help you need or consider stepping down until you are able to get victory over this sin in your life.

4. Not Greedy

5. Solid in their walk with God

This will be displayed by a faithful consistent dedication to the house of God and the things of God.

6. Servants

7. Men of Integrity

That is men who hold a good name with the community, God, and their family.

8. Lead their families in Godliness

Duties of a Deacon

The scriptural expectations.

Acts 6:1 6 And in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration. 2 Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables. 3 Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business. 4 But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.
