Matthew 5:1 L-Peshitta

ܟ݁ܰܕ݂ ܚܙܳܐ ܕ݁ܶܝܢ ܝܶܫܽܘܥ ܠܟ݂ܶܢ̈ܫܶܐ ܣܠܶܩ ܠܛܽܘܪܳܐ ܘܟ݂ܰܕ݂ ܝܺܬ݂ܶܒ݂ ܩܪܶܒ݂ܘ ܠܘܳܬ݂ܶܗ ܬ݁ܰܠܡܺܝܕ݂ܰܘܗ̱̈ܝ

ܟ݁ܰܕ݂ ܚܙܳܐ ܕ݁ܶܝܢ ܝܶܫܽܘܥ ܠܟ݂ܶܢ̈ܫܶܐ ܣܠܶܩ ܠܛܽܘܪܳܐ

Now when Yeshua saw - ܟ݁ܰܕ݂ ܚܙܳܐ ܕ݁ܶܝܢ ܝܶܫܽܘܥ ܠܟ݂ܶܢ̈ܫܶܐ

Particle - when ܟ݁ܰܕ݂

ܟܰܕ before the finite verb, and esp. before a participle or adjective, denotes present action or state

Peal Perfect 3msg ܚܙܳܐ - to see is used to translate the participle Ἰδὼν “seeing.” The Syriac verb could have been put in a participle form but chose the verbal form due to the presence of the Proper noun Yeshua.

The particle ܕ݁ܶܝܢ represents the Greek particle δέ

The proper noun Yeshua ܝܶܫܽܘܥ does not appear in the Greek text.

The lamed is indicates the direct object of the first clause ܠܟ݂ܶܢ̈ܫܶܐ. The Greek text does not need this sense it can just put words in the accusative τοὺς ὄχλους. The noun is plural as indicated by the ending ܫܶܐ - e (T. Nöld., Syr. Gram. 70)

ܣܠܶܩ ܠܛܽܘܪܳܐ ܘܟ݂ܰܕ݂ ܝܺܬ݂ܶܒ݂ ܩܪܶܒ݂ܘ ܠܘܳܬ݂ܶܗ ܬ݁ܰܠܡܺܝܕ݂ܰܘܗ̱̈ܝ

He went up to the mountain and after he sat down his disciples drew near to him.

Peal Peal Perfect 3msg ܣܠܩ - to ascend

Indirect object of the preposition ܠܛܽܘܪܳܐ the lamed is serving as a preposition (εἰς) with directional force “to” the mountain.
