Welcome everyone, my name is Faustino Munoz and I am staff here at Faith Oakville as Director of Student Ministry as well as Vicar.
Merry Christmas! I love the Advent season…well really I love everything except the weather. I’m not sure where you stand on the issue, but many people disagree on when people should actually begin celebrating and/or decorating for Christmas. *INSERT STATISTIC ABOUT WHEN PEOPLE BEGIN DECORATING.
I would venture to say that when the majority of people look at a Christmas tree, they fail to realize the true meaning of it. They likely think of presents or how much money they’ve spent on gifts, or the Christmas ham or stuffing that they will eat later that day, or the family that will be there in just a few short hours.
My prayer today is that God will speak through me to turn your focus from those things to Him.
1st mention of tree - Genesis 3.
Bringing Christmas Tree inside…have to make room for other things. Growing up, I remember the table that we had to move out of the way to put up the Christmas tree.
First Christmas Tree put up in a Church (in America) was in an LCMS Church in Cleveland, Ohio in 1851
The evergreen tree, which stays green throughout the most bitter of winters, is a symbol of God’s faithfulness. His faithfulness to fulfill the promise He made to Adam & Eve in Genesis 3.
Oh the Christmas Tree. I love seeing them up! But it’s one of things that I actually really dislike doing. I love looking at the trees but I don’t like putting them up....
We always had a fake tree growing up, it was nice that the bristles never fell off. My wife always had real trees.
