Prayer-studies
Prayer
A young school boy rather idly inclined, noticed that a fellow student always
recited her lessons well, so he said to hear, "How is it that you always say your lessons so
perfectly?" She replied, "I always pray that I may say my lessons well." Amazed the boy
said, "Well, then, I will pray too." So that night the boy prayed that he would do his
lessons well. But then the next morning he could not even repeat a word of his usual
task. Very much disturbed, after class, he ran to his friend to reproach her as being
deceitful. "I prayed, but I could not say a single word of my lesson," he told her. She
asked him if he had tried to learn the lesson at all. He said he had not tried at all. He
said, "I thought I did not need to learn it when I prayed."
