WHAT IS THE MEANING OF LIFE?
This is a classic question.
When young men are busted, they say that there’s no more meaning in the lives. Is it?
UNDERSTANDING THE MEANING OF LIFE
The meaninglessness of life is obvious without Jesus (John 1:4) – Let’s first define “life” – the condition that distinguishes animals and plants from inorganic matter, including the capacity for growth, reproduction, functional activity, and continual change preceding death; the existence of an individual human being or animal; the period between the birth and death of a living thing. However, when we talk about the Bible, “life” is more than just “our condition that distinguishes”, “our existence as a human being”, or “the period between conception and death” that we’re in. LIFE –– a state, the condition of living or the state of being alive; especially healthiness, happiness, exuberance, energy, vitality, and the like. Zoé (life), 36x in John. Psychẽ (soul, life). Life exists physically and spiritually. Now, when we ask the question “What is the meaning of life?”, you need to look at both the physical and the spiritual essence. And when you have this kind of life perspective, you begin to see the real meaning of life.
Believing in Jesus’ life and teachings results to a meaningful life. (John 20:30–31) – In the human perspective, quality life happens: when you achieve your dreams, when you have all that you need, when you you are happier, when people are good to you, when you don’t have or you have less problems, when you have money and the best of things. And the list goes on. Nonetheless, when you have achieved all these, are you really happier? If your answer is more of a “No”, then I suggest you consider the spiritual side of life. Many people are missing the real meaning of life because of selective understanding of truth. We tend to believe what we want to believe – that is the selective understanding of truth. In the spiritual perspective, we have to understand that you are already alive because there is life in you. No! That is not always the case. a chasing after the wind.
Confidence in God in the midst of suffering makes sense when you are living a meaningful life (John 16:33) – All people encounter hardship and difficulties one way or the other. How do you develop this confidence in God even in the midst of suffering? And how can you make sense out of your problems? The answer once again is the right perspective where Jesus is the central figure and His teachings the central truth. Truly confidence in God in the midst of suffering makes sense when you are living a meaningful life centered on the life and teachings of Jesus.
CONCLUSION
You can live a meaningful life. Begin with Jesus and you will see the many facets of life. Only then can life make sense because you are not selective in your life perspective.
