How does God command husbands to love their wife? A little? On special occasions? After he makes her mad? Only on her birthday? Answer: as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.

What this sacrifice was. “He gave Himself for us.” Not only His love, His time, His power, His wisdom, His blood, but Himself, in all the fulness of His life and moral worth.
