John 14:1–7 ESV

“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. And you know the way to where I am going.” Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?” Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him.”

The disciples hearts were troubled because of Jesus’ departure

They had grown comfortable in the status quo…but things were about to change.

Change, departures, alterations of the status quo are always difficult

Whether it be with Bro. Sears who someone else…eventually you’ll be the reason for the change

One day you will be remembered…one day you will go to a place prepared for you...

Here Jesus comforted His disciples with promises of reuniting with Him

They were sure promises rooted in Jesus’ character.

Essentially you all know me…if you know me then you know God so just follow what I’ve said.

Let me tell you who Jesus is saying those words to…he’s speaking to a band of liars, manipulators, violent men, cowards, and later His promises here will apply to murderers and people who denied their very families.

Even Jesus’ own parents denied him at a certain point and yet still were forgiven and are dwelling with Him.

The question then remains…what place is being prepared for you based on the way....the truth…the life that you are living? Amen.
