Hard Things

Is there anything to hard for God (Jer32:27)? Is there anyone who he cannot reach (Isa59:1)? Anyplace that He cannot go (Psm138:7-12). God is able and that is our subject before us today.
Nothing is too hard (Jer32:27)
Jeremiah 32:27 NASB95
27 “Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh; is anything too difficult for Me?”
No place that he cannot go (Ps139:7-12)
In summary
In heaven, well he is there(v.8)
Uttermost parts of the sea, yep, there too (v.9)
No difference in darkness and light to him; so he knows and he sees (vv.11-12)
Our God is able (Eph3:20; Rom4:20-21)
(Transition) Just touch on these, able to to do more , able to perform, able to keep us, strengthen us, give us grace, able to deliver us and even more.

God is able to keep us

God’s ability is not limited to our’s. God is able to keep us, our part is to allow God to do it.
2 Timothy 2:11 NASB95
11 It is a trustworthy statement: For if we died with Him, we will also live with Him;
God is able: He wants us to live with Him (2Tim2:11)
Expand God’s willingness is proven through Jesus. God’s love is proven through Jesus. God’s will is made know through Jesus. God’s desire is that all men be saved (1Tim2:4). We have a part, or the word describes who will live with Him.
2 Timothy 2:12–13 NASB95
12 If we endure, we will also reign with Him; If we deny Him, He also will deny us; 13 If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself.
God is faithful, even if we are faithless, he wants us to endure so we can also reign with Him (2Tim2:12-13)
(Expand on faithfulness and faithless)
If we endure we will reign
If we deny; He will deny us
If we are faithless, He is still faithful
God is able to keep (protect) us (Jude1:24-25)
God wants to protect us with a purpose.
Jude 24–25 NASB95
24 Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to make you stand in the presence of His glory blameless with great joy, 25 to the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen.
Keep us from stumbling, so we can stand in the presence of His glory
Keep us so that we can be blameless with great joy!
(Expand) so we need to endure, we need to embrace, we need to be people of faith because God is able to keep us and that is His desire, but He is also fair and just, if you don’t choose Him He will honor that request. No request is a request, you must choose Him

God is able to strengthen us

Who does not need strength, or want more strength, sometimes physically and most the time spiritually. God is able to strengthen us, may we focus on a few scriptures concerning God’s ability and availability to provide strength?
God is our strength (Ps46:1-3; Ps27:1)
God gives strength (Ps37:39)
God’s strength given is personal (Ps18:1-2; 32)
God’s supplied strength (Isa40:29-31)
May we look at some of these scriptures mentioned so we can glean some understanding and applicaton.
Psalm 46:1–2 NASB95
1 God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. 2 Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change And though the mountains slip into the heart of the sea;
Psalm 46:3 NASB95
3 Though its waters roar and foam, Though the mountains quake at its swelling pride. Selah.
God is our refuge and our strength, a very help to us in times of trouble, we spoke on this recently in another Mighty God sermon, but so fits here too. (expand)
Psalm 27:1 NASB95
1 The Lord is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the defense of my life; Whom shall I dread?
Our refuge, our strength, our very help, our light our salvation, and even our defence!
He gives us these things, right when we need them
Psalm 37:39 NASB95
39 But the salvation of the righteous is from the Lord; He is their strength in time of trouble.
Rescues the righteous and gives strength in time of trouble. He gives it and it is person
Psalm 18:1–2 NASB95
1 “I love You, O Lord, my strength.” 2 The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, My God, my rock, in whom I take refuge; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
My deliverer, my God, my rock, my refuge, my shield, the horn of my salvation, my stronghold (my strength)!
Psalm 18:32 NASB95
32 The God who girds me with strength And makes my way blameless?
He girds you, girds me in strength! Because of the blood of Christ He makes your way blameless, faultless.
So, rejoice in our Mighty God who is able to provide strength.
Psalm 28:7–8 NASB95
7 The Lord is my strength and my shield; My heart trusts in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart exults, And with my song I shall thank Him. 8 The Lord is their strength, And He is a saving defense to His anointed.
I cannot stop there, need to give one more to see promise, provision and protection.
Isaiah 40:29–30 NASB95
29 He gives strength to the weary, And to him who lacks might He increases power. 30 Though youths grow weary and tired, And vigorous young men stumble badly,
Isaiah 40:31 NASB95
31 Yet those who wait for the Lord Will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles, They will run and not get tired, They will walk and not become weary.
Who does He give strength to? - the weary
Who does he give power to? - the lacking
What do those who lack hope receive? -they will gain new strength (hope)
What is the result of the new strength? - they will mount up . . . , they will run . . . they will walk . . .

God is able to grace us

God gifts us, graces us, equips us so that we may serve Him.
2 Corinthians 9:8 NASB95
8 And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that always having all sufficiency in everything, you may have an abundance for every good deed;
God is able to make all grace abound, being abundantly prepared for every good deed. (2Cor9:8)
Abundance, when you think about abundance what do you think of, how do you define it?
Dictionary.com defines it as “existing or available in large quantities; plentiful
He equips us for good works (Eph2:10)
Ephesians 2:10 NASB95
10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.
Graces given - Fruit of the Spirit (Gal5:22-23)
Galatians 5:22–23 NASB95
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
Graces given are developed (2Pt1:5-7)
2 Peter 1:5–6 NASB95
5 Now for this very reason also, applying all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence, and in your moral excellence, knowledge, 6 and in your knowledge, self-control, and in your self-control, perseverance, and in your perseverance, godliness,
2 Peter 1:7 NASB95
7 and in your godliness, brotherly kindness, and in your brotherly kindness, love.
Question: What is good work? Can you give an example?
(stop, discuss this) Do you know what good works God has called you to? Are you doing those good works?
(Transition) God’s gifts, God’s graces are given to help us to grow and in some cases to go (maybe say flee).

God is able to deliver us from temptation

We know about prayer for deliverance from temptation (Mt6:13; inferred). He has equipped us for deliverance too.
Hebrews 2:18 NASB95
18 For since He Himself was tempted in that which He has suffered, He is able to come to the aid of those who are tempted.
By example He is able to deliver (aid) us (Heb:2:18)
He provides the way out (1Cor10:13)
Oh wait, I need to give you the other passage
1 Corinthians 10:13 NASB95
13 No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it.
God promises a crown to all who perseveres, to all who love Him (Jm1:12)
James 1:12 NASB95
12 Blessed is a man who perseveres under trial; for once he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.
(Transition) I mentioned equipping, he is in the equipping and the supply business too

God is able to supply our needs

Our mighty God (Isa9:6), our God of all grace (1Pt5:10), who gives abundantly (2Cor9:8; Eph3:20) to meet all our needs.
I want to slow down here for a few minutes and touch on these things and then pose a question.
He is called Mighty God (Isa9:6)
Isaiah 9:6 NASB95
6 For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.
He is the God of all grace (1Pt5:10)
1 Peter 5:10 NASB95
10 After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen and establish you.
He supplies you abundantly (2Cor9:8)
2 Corinthians 9:8 NKJV
8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.
God’s abundant grace equipping you for every good deed (work).
Supplies all of our needs (Php4:19)
Philippians 4:19 NASB95
19 And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
Question: Look at the wording of Php4:19, whose God will do what for whom? And how is it done?
Paul’s God who was personal and was able would supply all of their (the Philippians) needs by the riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Now that was pretty confident. Paul, while in prison had his needs met
Philippians 4:18 NASB95
18 But I have received everything in full and have an abundance; I am amply supplied, having received from Epaphroditus what you have sent, a fragrant aroma, an acceptable sacrifice, well-pleasing to God.
God used the Philippian church as His tool to supply to Paul what he needed.
(Transition) Can we be a tool for the God who is able? The answer should be an astounding yes and a hearty amen! And wait, there is more - - -

God is able to perform

He is able to keep, able to strengthen, able to gift, able to deliver and able to perform, so think about some of the things he is able to perform in keeping His promises.
Romans 4:20–21 NKJV
20 He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, 21 and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform.
Unwavering faith in being convinced God was able to perform what He promised (Rom4:20-21)
well, I need to keep that in context because the unwavering faith had results
Romans 4:22 NASB95
22 Therefore it was also credited to him as righteousness.
Before the gospel was ever preached as we know, there was righteousness and it was by faith.
Before there was law there was grace by faith that brought about righteousness of God.
Other promises He performs, He keeps.
Forgives sins continually (1Jn1:9)
1 John 1:9 NASB95
9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Completes a good work in you (Php1:6)
Philippians 1:6 NASB95
6 For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.
How about able to give victory! (1Cor15:57)
1 Corinthians 15:57 NASB95
57 but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
How do we have victory? Through Jesus Christ. Eternal victory, over sin, over death or death is swallowed up in victory ((1Cor15:54)
1 Corinthians 15:54 NASB95
54 But when this perishable will have put on the imperishable, and this mortal will have put on immortality, then will come about the saying that is written, “Death is swallowed up in victory.
Call you say Hallelujah! Death has no hold on you! but wait, there is more!

God is able to do more!

More, God is able to do more, really? How about ore on that?
Ephesians 3:20–21 NASB95
20 Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, 21 to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen.
He is able to do abundantly more (Eph3:20)
He is able to save us (Eph2:4-5)
Ability was put into action and was demonstrated (Rom5:8)
Romans 5:8 NASB95
8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
How His own love was demonstrated (Tit3:4-7)
Titus 3:4–5 NASB95
4 But when the kindness of God our Savior and His love for mankind appeared, 5 He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit,
Titus 3:6–7 NASB95
6 whom He poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 so that being justified by His grace we would be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
(Invitation slide- wrap God’s love around you)
Allow God’s love to be wrapped around you. Let the God who is able work in your life. Allow the God who is able to work through your life to touch the life of others. Choose today to be wholly devoted to Him, to be Holy as He is holy, be holy and consecrated to Him and for Him. For He is able to make you into what He wants you to be.
