God’s design is to be followed, but we have to know it to follow it!

Genesis 5:1 ESV
This is the book of the generations of Adam. When God created man, he made him in the likeness of God.
Toledoth
God’s Authority.
God’s Pattern.
Genesis 5:2 ESV
Male and female he created them, and he blessed them and named them Man when they were created.
God’s Design
God’s Blessing
Genesis 5:3 ESV
When Adam had lived 130 years, he fathered a son in his own likeness, after his image, and named him Seth.
Age is given for Seth, not Abel or Cain. Pattern for following.
Not just the firstborn, but the lineage of Noah is what matters.
Genesis 5:5 ESV
Thus all the days that Adam lived were 930 years, and he died.
Reason for the long life - to populate the earth.
Genesis 5:27 ESV
Thus all the days of Methuselah were 969 years, and he died.
Trivia question!!
Genesis 5:28–29 ESV
When Lamech had lived 182 years, he fathered a son and called his name Noah, saying, “Out of the ground that the Lord has cursed, this one shall bring us relief from our work and from the painful toil of our hands.”
There is hope, but what actually came during Noah’s lifetime? Destruction and judgment.
There is an end to our toil, and that is in eternity.
You are a part of God’s plan.
He has designed you and He has control over your life and influences.
What will you do with the life that God has given you, regardless of length.
