Matthew 5:17-20

Introduction.
There are many people who view grace as a legalized way to sin.
Every generation has its proponents who feel that Jesus emphasized love and de-emphasized the law.
as a result, many have felt less obligated to follow God’s law. they have felt freer to live a loser life and to do as they wished.
It is argued, the priesthood and security of the believer are two of the basic teachings of Scripture.
Therefore, the law’s clear restrictions and obligations and its demand for obedience are minimized, and what is called love and forgiveness are emphasized.
Paul addressed this problem in Romans 6:1-2
Jesus pull no punches, He tells it straight out.
There is no contradiction.
Jesus did not teach or live contrary to God’s Law.
Jesus is the fulfillment of the law and the prophets.
The law is God’s revelation of His character and purpose for His people.
Jesus is the example of how to live one’s life pleasing to God.
Jesus never failed to meet God’s expectations according to the law.
He is the sinless Lamb of God. Hebrews 4:15 (KJV) 15  For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
There must be conformity.
Disregard and disobedience of the law are unacceptable.
We are accountable for who we live before others.
Thou shalt not have any other gods before Me.
Thou shalt not commit idolatry.
Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord in vain.
Thou shalt keep the Sabbath holy.
Honor thy father and mother
Thou shalt not kill.
Thou shalt not commit adultery.
Thou shalt not seal.
Thou shalt not bare false witness.
Thou shalt not covet.
There must be completeness.
The scribes and Pharisees were self-righteous according to works.
We cannot be justified by keeping the law, because we cannot do it.
If we beak one law, we are guilty of all.
Our righteousness is in Christ Jesus.
We must have a personal relationship.
Jesus must be Lord.
Being fashioned in Christ’s image, we are to exemplify the law’s perfection, because He is Holy, we are to be Holy.
Conclusion.
Only when we die to self and yield to Christ’s Spirit living in us can the manifestation of His life be revealed in us.
you cannot live good enough to be justified, therefore we need God’s grace and forgiveness every day.
Can others see Jesus in you?
