Jonah’s Call (1:1-2)

The Lord said, “Go”.
God was clear in His message to Jonah.
There is a Call for every believer.
Jonah’s Rejection (1:3-17)

Jonah was a runaway. He purchased passage on a ship to Tarshish.
Jonah thought he could flee from God.
Jonah was a prophet of God.
Jonah thought he could escape from God’s presence by leaving Israel.
God brought a storm against the boat Jonah was in.
Jonah was tired and slept in the bottom of the boat.
The captain asks Jonah How can he sleep.
Jonah tells the crew his story, that he is running from God.
Casting lots points to Jonah as the cause of the Jonah.
The crew throw Jonah overboard and the storm ceases.
The crew worships Jehovah, the God of the Hebrews.
God appoints a great fish to swallow Jonah for
3 days.

Jonah cries out to God.
Jonah realizes that this punishment is from God.
Jonah recognizes his need.
Jonah remembers only God can deliver him.
Jonah offers his sacrifice of thanksgiving to God.
God delivers Jonah.

Disobedience does not only affect you.
