Today we learn of another way we can honor God! In fact that is what we are taking the time to learn over the next few weeks here in Threshold...
I CAN HONOR GOD (have kids repeat this a few times)
WE as Christian, can honor God in many ways, and when we do this God is so faithful to give us back what we give him. In fact Jesus in his word tells us this!
38 give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.”
Jesus was saying here that what you give out, it will be returned to you in a bigger way. This is our verce we are to focus on over the next few weeks, how when we give, its given back to us multiplied. Now this is an important verce to keep in mind because today in class we talk about a topic that even for adults is hard to do, but if y'all get good at this now, when you are my age you will be better then i could ever dream of.
I want everyone how has a Bible to turn to Malachi 3:10 or read on the screen and we look at how we can honor God this morning.
10 Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need.
Yes, today we are talking about how “I CAN HONOR GOD WITH MY TITHE.” Today my hope is that we learn what tithing is and how it can benefit our lives. This is not just something we do just because someone said do, but we realize this is a life style. Something that if we can get into practice of doing as a young girl or boy can drastically change the life you build for yourself.
WHAT IS THE TITHE?

So some of y’all might already be familiar with this concept of tithing. Either your parents or loved ones do this already. Maybe even you yourself have giving tithe to God, but what is “the tithe.”
First Tithe quite literally means the tenth. So when Malachi says bring the full tithe its saying bring 10%. That’s where we get the 10% from.
so a tenth of 10$ would be 1$
Second the tithe can be any increase in your life. Tithe dose not have to be just money (even though that is a huge part of it). Some of use might not have money to give to God, sometimes our tithe looks different from our parents but that should not stop us from tithing.

In the Bible God tells Moses this in Leviticus 27:30
30 “Every tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land or of the fruit of the trees, is the Lord’s; it is holy to the Lord.
God said if it’s the seed of the land or the fruit. It was not just one thing but just in increase they had in there life.
Last the Tithe is God’s. Going back to Leviticus 27:30 God said the tithe (10%) is mine and is holy to the lord. See the tithe is not only 10% of everything we receive, but “the tithe” is also God’s and Holy/set apart.

WHAT IS THE STOREHOUSE
So i get that the tithe is 10% of what we receive and it belongs to God. So where do i bring it. It’s not like we can actually give it to God ourselves. Where do we bring it. Looking at Malachi 3:10 again it gives us the answer.
WE BRING THE TITHE INTO THE STOREHOUSE, WITCH IS THE CHURCH
I’ll spare you the details, but when you study this word storehouse out in the bible it the same word they use to say temple.
Now we don’t go around calling churches temples now a days, but NewSong is God’s temple and if you call NewSong your church then you should bring your tithe the NewSong.
share how me and my wife when we began to give to NewSong the moment we called this our home church.
And when we bring the tithe into the storehouse/the church/NewSong that is used to bless God’s people and honor God.
use this opportunity to talk about the different things we use the money for to bless God’s loved ones.
Examples: getting this building, helping single moms, helping homeless people with clothing(our tithe can be more then money.)

So tithe is 10% of all our increase and should be brought to the lord because it not only belongs to him but also bring him honor, but our tithe also shows other Jesus
See Jesus gave us everything first. In fact he gave the ultimate gift witch was his life. When we are faithful to give our tithe to God, like Luke 6:38 says its given back to us in a bigger amount. Your friends will see that in your life. They will notice that something in your life is different and because of that you can show them it JESUS!
You can share with them that all that has been giving to you is because Jesus first gave his life and in return you give back to him.
This beautiful cycle begins where you give to God and he gives back to you and take cares of you.
story of how God took care of my and my wife when neither of us had a Job. It was because of our giving our tithe.
story of how i have never asked for a raise in my life, but God has increased my income time and time again.
I have never worried about where money will come from because i have trusted God and been faithful in my giving. Showing Jesus in my life though my giving.
prayer
