Me:

· In a few minutes I’ll show you someone from that was very braggadocios but it backfired and a lesson we can learn.
We:
1. Relationships 101
a. No relationship ever stays the same.
i. We are either growing closer
ii. Or pulling further apart
iii. Tina and I for example – In order to grow we take time to make time.
iv. How is your relationship with your spouse kids
b. This is no different with our Lord.
i. It has to be maintained
ii. We are either growing closer to the Lord or you're drifting away.
iii. We never just stand still.
iv. We don't just become a Christian and that's it
v. Circle one of these
vi. Our heart is either growing warmer every day or it's growing colder.
c. I want you to have that growing vibrant relationship with your Lord
i. I’ll going to point out some pitfalls
ii. Then how to come back
iii. Some here this morning have lost their way

3. The first pitfall
a. Over confidence
i. We think - we can handle everything on our own
ii. When you hear about someone stumbling
1. That could never happen to me
2. 1 Corinthians 10:12 (The Living Bible) — 12 So be careful. If you are thinking, “Oh, I would never behave like that”—let this be a warning to you. For you too may fall into sin.
3. Proverbs 16:18 (NLT) — 18 Pride goes before destruction, and haughtiness before a fall.
b. The heart is deceitful
i. This means we lie to ourselves
ii. Given the right situation, any of us in this room, is capable of any sin.
iii. Have you fallen?

4. Restoring Grace
a. When we lose our way
i. Lamentations 5:21 (NLT) — 21 Restore us, O Lord, and bring us back to you again! Give us back the joys we once had!
ii. When you are in the pit it’s not much fun
iii. Remember this – how to be restored – grace
b. God’s unconditional love
i. Our struggle is we don’t think God really loves us after this.
ii. God doesn't say, "I love you if..." you're good, perfect
iii. He doesn't say, "I love you because...
iv. He just says, "I love you ... period!
v. Lamentations 3:22 (NLT) — 22 The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease.
vi. God does not reject believers when we sin because His love is unconditional.
vii. God restored Peter
viii. He can restore you!
