I was raised in a small country church in Rushville Indiana. I never really remember having more than 50-60 in church. I grew up, moved away but visited when I came back home to visit family.

About 10 years ago, Plum Creek Christian Church hired a new pastor, Pastor Ray. Plum Creek was about 8 miles out of Rushville, farming community, roads had no yellow middle lines, tough to get there from anywhere. I recall talking to my parents asking how Plumb Creek was doing?

To my and everyone’s surprise, P.C. was growing. New faces, new volunteers, new music, new attitude towards church-Love was in the house. What a blessing! After a year or two, PC went to two services. AMEN

So Ray, the new Pastor is now Pastor of PC with attendance of somewhere around 300. Families, kids, committees to oversee the functions of the church. What? Ray? So one day, I asked my Mom, what is this all about Mom? I have never seen this “metamorphosis” in a church. Why Mom I asked?

Really with no hesitation, she said and I quote. “Every Sunday, not some Sundays but every Sunday, Ray preaches about The Love of Jesus.!” Period! How profound.

Oh how we muddy the waters of our Lord and Savior. We get caught up in worship timing, readings, meetings, committees. You get my point.
WE HAVE BEEN PROMISED DELIVERANCE.
WE HAVE BEEN PROMISED DELIVERANCE.
Christ came to set man free, To set US free!—John 8:32, 36.
John 8:32 “32 And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:36 “So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free. Man need not be bound to sin when complete deliverance is available.”

C. Poverty—v. 20. Christ quickly explained how poor He was, and if we follow Him, we should not expect to have all things. The Christian life is giving—not getting.

D. Problem—vv. 21–22. The person used an excuse for not following the Lord. Strange that a dead person keeps a living person from following Christ!

Mark 4:35–41 “35 As evening came, Jesus said to his disciples, “Let’s cross to the other side of the lake.” 36 So they took Jesus in the boat and started out, leaving the crowds behind (although other boats followed). 37 But soon a fierce storm came up. High waves were breaking into the boat, and it began to fill with water. 38 Jesus was sleeping at the back of the boat with his head on a cushion. The disciples woke him up, shouting, “Teacher, don’t you care that we’re going to drown?” 39 When Jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Silence! Be still!” Suddenly the wind stopped, and there was a great calm. 40 Then he asked them, “Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?” 41 The disciples were absolutely terrified. “Who is this man?” they asked each other. “Even the wind and waves obey him!”
