Introduction

Your Story His Story: Seeing your story through the story of the Bible.

The Bible reads like one big, well connected story.

It is a story that developed over the course of 16 centuries. Written by over 40 people, many of which didn’t know each other, yet it overlaps with amazing congruency.

This leads us to affirm the idea that the Bible is the inspired Word of God…because it would have to be.

It is historically reliable.

2 Timothy 3:16-17

It tells us of the God of heaven and earth who wants you to connect your story to His story. And through His story, He tells you how.

But there are those in our culture who don’t believe in God. Even if they believe in a god, they don’t hold that this God…the one of the Bible... exists in that realm of Divine singularity.

So let’s tonight seek to learn some things about God and in so doing, lets answer a number of questions…one of which is “Does God exist?”

Does God Exist?

I affirm that He does and I affirm this based upon the book that we affirmed last week was supernaturally inspired and historically reliable - the Bible.

If the Bible is affirmed to be true then whatever the Bible tells us about God must be true.

Romans 1:19-25 -- For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.

He exists and nature proves it!

All created things give rise to the evidence of God. Every leaf, flower, blade of grass, raindrop, and snowflake point to His existence.

Genesis 1:1- In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

And according to this text, there is either a part or all of you who believe that.

Our unrighteousness seeks to suppress it.

Sometimes our own intelligence seeks to suppress it. We live in a scientific world which has itself affirmed that the universe had a beginning.

But, that beginning came out of nothing through a Big Bang.

Does it really make sense to you that everything existed in an instant out of nothing?

You inherently know that this doesn’t make sense. Something can’t come from nothing.

Bobby Harrington in one of his books pointed this out…if all physical elements were created in the moment of the Big Bang, they could only have been created by something non-physical.

There is only one good answer based upon a supernatural and historically reliable book of how that happened…God.

Hebrews 11:3 - By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible.

He Exists in Singularity

And He exists in singularity. Meaning…there is no God besides the God of the Bible.

1 Samuel 2:2 - There is none holy like the Lord: for there is none besides you; there is no rock like our God.

1 Chronicles 17:20 - There is none like you, O Lord, and there is no God besides you, according to all that we have heard with our ears.

Isaiah 64:4 - From of old no one has heard or perceived by the ear, no eye has seen a God besides you, who acts for those who wait for him.

His existence and His singularity have been question for centuries.

Acts 17:16-28

He made all beings to seek God and perhaps feel their way toward Him and find Him.

He isn’t actually far from any of us.

He Wants to Be Found By You

This one very real God of the universe, who created EVERYTHING, wants to be found by you…and He is right there to be found.

How does it make you feel that He wants you to find Him?

The girl in high school.

He wants you to pursue Him, for He has been pursuing you.
