V.4 We should always be thankful for God’s grace! We are in desperate need of it every day.
4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, 5 even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— 6 and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
V.5 Through Christ we are made rich. Not with worldly riches but with heavenly riches.
19 “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Specifically Paul says they were enriched in “all speech and all knowledge” showing that they were putting their knowledge into action.
V.6 Our testimony about Christ is shown to be true when we live a transformed life.
V.7 In Christ we do not lack anything that we need for spiritual growth.
3 His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence,
V.8 Our strength comes from the Lord.
31 but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength;
they shall mount up with wings like eagles;
they shall run and not be weary;
they shall walk and not faint.
Because of the strength of Christ and His grace we will be presented as blameless on the day of judgment. (guiltless, not accused)
V.9 It is ultimately upon God’s faithfulness that we depend!
3 But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one.
19 Therefore let those who suffer according to God’s will entrust their souls to a faithful Creator while doing good.
God is faithful! He alone will never fail us nor forsake us!
35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword?
37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
