What now?

Christ has saved us (as we see in Ephesians 2:1-10)

Ephesians 2:1–10 ESV
1 And you were dead in the trespasses and sins 2 in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience— 3 among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind. 4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, 5 even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— 6 and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
We have found Christ Or We have been a Christian for a while
So what does the Christian life entail?
Great passage for this in Colossians 3

Seek the things above (v.1-4)

v1-2: Seek and set your mind on the things above

Philippians 3:19–20 ESV
19 Their end is destruction, their god is their belly, and they glory in their shame, with minds set on earthly things. 20 But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ,
We have been set apart to walk with Christ, He has saved us now we should walk and live for Him.
Matthew 6:19–21 ESV
19 “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Put to death what is earthly in you (v.5-11)

Kill the sin in your life

You used to live in these sins, don’t do that anymore!

Romans 6:1–2 ESV
1 What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? 2 By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it?

Why do we keep living like the world!?

Romans 1:18–25 ESV
18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. 19 For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. 20 For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. 21 For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Claiming to be wise, they became fools, 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things. 24 Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, 25 because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.

You should not want to be like the world!

The problem with “Christians” today is many call Christ their savior but live a life where He is not Lord!

They made a proclamation once or prayed a prayer
Now they live a life like the world
They base their beliefs and behaviors on a Godless world.
They think what they do is OK because everyone else in their youth group does it.

Our desire shouldn’t be to be like the celebrities and everyone else of the world

We should not dress sensually to show off our bodies, God is appalled by that!
We shouldn’t want to listen to the music we shouldn’t listen to
We shouldn’t do the things the world does

Our desire should be to grow in and to be like Jesus Christ

True biblical conversions involve repentance and faith, then Baptism as a proclamation.

Put on what is Holy (v.12-17)

Romans 6:12–14 ESV
12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, to make you obey its passions. 13 Do not present your members to sin as instruments for unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life, and your members to God as instruments for righteousness. 14 For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace.

Live by Faith

Romans 1:17 ESV
17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.”

Decisions to be made

Maybe you need to be Baptized
What sin do you need to kill
You need to find a mentor
Come to youth group more
Maybe you need to fully surrender your life and put your faith in Jesus Christ.

Pray the kids would come to faith and repent
