Death is Certain

Heb. 9:27 And inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment,
We know this and believe and expect that someday in the normal course of life we will experience the death of a loved one or face death ourselves.
But we soon forget this reality in course of our daily routine.
Then one day our world comes crashing down when death enters our family taking from us someone we cherished so deeply.
There is nothing that makes it easy. Even if you have known for sometime that it was coming.
No matter what we do, we are never quite prepared for it.

God has a Plan

God alone fixes the hour of our passing
He never does anything without plan or reason.
When He allows death to take our loved ones we can be assured He has a purpose for doing so and that it works in some manner for our good and His glory.
Romans 8:28 And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.

Life is Short

James 4:14 Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away.
No one when their time has come wishes that they worked more or had more money.
God has given us this one life to live, us it for others and for His glory

Death is a Beginning not an End

2 Timothy 4:6 For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure has come.
The word Paul uses here for death is departure
It is a nautical term for leaving on a boat.
I believe that God doesn’t so much call us away from something as He calls us to something.
In death, for those who know Christ, God calls us to Himself.

Heaven is Real

2 Corinthians 5:8 we are of good courage, I say, and prefer rather to be absent from the body and to be at home with the Lord.
Heaven is the place from which Jesus came and it is the place to which He returned. Acts 1:11 and they also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in just the same way as you have watched Him go into heaven.”
We will know each other in Heaven.
1 Cor. 13:12 For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face; now I know in part, but then I shall know fully just as I also have been fully known.
In 2 Samuel, When David lost his new born son his only comfort was that he knew he would see him again.
