Worry- to torment oneself with or suffer from disturbing thought. Anxiety-distress or uneasiness of the mind caused by fear of danger or misfortune. As we come closer to the end of 2020, many things that we have encounter this year alone has cause much worry and anxiety. In todays message we will be looking into the scripture to help through these trying times, to ensure that GOD is still with us. I pray that Matthew 6. 31-34 will give us insight and encouragement throughout these trying times.

Double Mindedness

Matthew 6. 24 - No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.

You can’t worship two gods at once. Loving one god, you’ll end up hating the other. Adoration of one feeds contempt for the other. You can’t worship God and Money both

The Word of GOD speaks against this conflicting way of thinking, trying to please two master at the same time is impossible. This way of thinking causes us to become double minded . We cannot live for the world and please God.This kind of thinking bring about aguish, fear, and fret. If you are a believer in today’s world, the things we are facing can quickly bring us to Worry and Anxiety, it’s easy for us to get caught up by the affairs of life. Example: During holiday season we try to get two jobs to buy gifts and for preparation; but how you going to get two jobs and you don’t even like the first job. Not to mention the time it will take away from the very people you trying to buy the gift for, then we tend to miss out on prayer call, bible study and all the spiritual guidance we need. 1 John 2. 15 says Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

Seeking the Kingdom

Matthew 6. 25 - Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?

If you decide for God, living a life of God-worship, it follows that you don’t fuss about what’s on the table at mealtimes or whether the clothes in your closet are in fashion. There is far more to your life than the food you put in your stomach, more to your outer appearance than the clothes you hang on your body. Look at the birds, free and unfettered, not tied down to a job description, careless in the care of God. And you count far more to him than birds.

The Word of God tell us that life is more than possession and there is no security in possessions. We should not worry or have anxiety of life, but “we outta seek GOD not seek money; that we should be trusting God and not trusting money”.we need to know that life is uncertain this is why trying to plan for a long life is foolish without GOD. I’m not say we shouldn’t watch what we eat or exercise to be healthy, i’m saying that none of these things means nothing without GOD. Because what we do know is that death is certain and we must give an account to GOD.
Scriptures tells us to never worry about the necessities of life. It describe how life is more than food, more than clothes, and how we mean more to God than animals and plants. Matthew 6 26 - Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? VS 27 ask a question can worry add to the stature of man, basically you can fuss all you want and complain in the mirror all day long but it still won’t change any thing in you life. Family we need to know that worry is sinful, and anxiety causes illness. This world we live can cause us to stumble into anxiety over nothing today and even less tomorrow. We get to thinking if kids gone alright, we be trying to move up position in our job. What we forget is if GOD say yes its a yes, if he say no its a no and there is nothing anybody or anything can do about it.
If we give your entire attention to what GOD is doing right now, we wouldn’t have worry about who won the election, how will they effect are lives; how bad this pandemic is and how we going to live in the next day. When it come to surviving the WORD of GOD tells us that GOD got us; and all we need to do is trust in that. If we don’t the Word say that we will be thinking like unbelievers vs 32 say all these things the gentile seek. What things 1 John 2. 16 For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world.
1 john 2. 17 - And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever. Matthew 6. 33 - But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Many times we worry because things get out of our control, as if we had control in the first place. We have the tendency to lean on our own perspective until things get out of hand it is then we realize that we don’t have control. For many of us God is like a spare tire. When all else fail he’s the one we run to.Instead the WORD tells us that we should seek GOD’s perspective first to seek his guidance in everything we do. If we focus on the things of God, then the things we need to survive will be added. (Psalm 91)

Tomorrow’s Trouble

Matthew 6 34 - Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble
I love the way that the Word wrap this passage up. The very thing that causes most of our worry and anxiety is thinking about the unknown. Thinking about the unknown causes us to horde, causes us to make the wrong moves to be anxious. Unknown thinking also causes us to move when we should be still, to do nothing when we should act. We’ll start looking for answers every where but the Word of GOD. The Word give us the perfect balance of life through GOD prevision.Looking what is in front of us and not on the unknown; God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes. So ask your self what the main cause of anxiety in your. I charge you today to identify one change you’ll make this week to place GOD and his Kingdom first.
