No One Can Take Our Joy John 16:16-24 1. The confusion of the disciples (16-18) 2. The explanation of Jesus (19-22) Matthew 24:6-8 - 6 "You will be hearing of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not frightened, for those things must take place, but that is not yet the end. 7 "For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and in various places there will be famines and earthquakes. 8 "But all these things are merely the beginning of birth pangs. 3. The promise of Jesus (23-24) 1 John 5:14-15 - 14 This is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.15 And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him. What or who you value most determines your source of joy. 2 Corinthians 4:17-18 - 17 For momentary, light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison, 18 while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal. Praying the will of Jesus is the key to experiencing our deep-seated joy in Him. 1 Peter 1:6, 8 - 6 In this you greatly rejoice, even though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been distressed by various trails... 8 and though you have not seen Him, you love Him, and though you do not see Him now, but believe in Him, you greatly rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory. No one or nothing can take away our joy in Jesus when it is centered in Him and when we pray according to His will.
