Jesus being the light is more of a campfire kind of light.

Notes
Transcript
The world and our neighbors need light.
When we hear be the Light as Jesus was the light, we often think of teachings or showing right and wrong.
I want to reframe this in a way that helps us better understand what Jesus really is to us.
Instead of being a flashlight or light of modern days, it is much more like a campfire.
We see here that Jesus is the example of being a light.
Jesus is not just a knowledge of what is good and what is not good.
Jesus is warm and inviting.
Jesus is what people wanted to be around.
Jesus is offensive to people who think they are flashlights.
Jesus is what people want to gather around.
Campfires:
Warm, Inviting,Hope, source of cooking food, removes potential bacteria and disease, people gather around.
The word light is meant to be a source emitting light.
Light = any object that serves as a source of illumination.
When we embody what people are needing, we are being the light to the world.
Practical ways of being light.
Adding value
I see people bring hope and light to others and the favor of God is on it.
Drawing pictures of strangers on the train.
Healing on the streets.
Giving gifts to people. A guy who pays one months rent for strangers.
Rapper who freestyles for random people to make them smile.
Ways we can be the light:
Speak prophetically over people lives.
Share your story with others.
Be brave with loving others.
Find new ways to give outside of your normal.
Find someone who is in a struggle and bring something to the table they need.
Share what God is telling you in every platform you have.
Do something that is good for you to inspire others to do the same.

1 John 1:5–7 NASB95
5 This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all. 6 If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth; 7 but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.
John 3:19–21 NASB95
19 “This is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil. 20 “For everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come to the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. 21 “But he who practices the truth comes to the Light, so that his deeds may be manifested as having been wrought in God.”
