· His Love for the Lord.
·
A love for the Lord. I had the opportunity to spend an hour with Allan at the hospital before his surgery, about 6 weeks ago. Carrie and Allen were needing some papers notarized. That got me in. While there we laughed, cried and prayed. He was worried about his boys, Carrie. When we talked about you boys he lite up, he was so proud of you. The other thing we did talk about was he was not afraid of bad results, dying, he knew where he was going. The most important thing we talked about was his faith. Hearing him say I know I am saved and I know where I am going. This was the heartbeat of his life.
In Scripture Paul reminds of the gospel which is the good news.
1 Corinthians 15:1-4
Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you--unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures.
Paul reminds us that the gospel of Christ is what saves us.
Jesus says in
John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Christ is the only way, does not matter what church you go to , what denomination, what matter is a relationship with Christ. Allan had a relationship with Christ, he believed in what the Bible says. Allen put his faith in the Word of God and Christ. If he could tell us one thing right now. You need to have a relationship with Christ.
Going to the end of the chapter
1 Corinthians 15:57-58
But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.
At the beginning of the chapter is says of Christ Resurrection. Christ has victory over death, that is why Allan is now rejoicing with the Lord in person. It is appointed that everyone in this room will die, we might not know when but it will happen.
Hebrews 9:27
And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment.
James says that life is a vapor, we just do not know when we will die. Are you ready for that day. Allan was, he placed his faith in Christ at a young age. At 18 I placed my faith in Christ. Will today be your day to trust Christ?
· Allan’s love for the Lord was not in vain. Allan was steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord. He shared the love of Christ every day.
· One of the things that the boys talked about was his safe driving record. He was very close to 1 Million miles without an accident, how many of you can say that. He was doing the work of Lord in all the conversations he had along the way.
· Buying someone’s meal,
· having conversations with people at truck stops.
· His ministry was to the people in his path across this land.
· He would say you need to trust Jesus, you need to live for the Lord.
· As we celebrate Allan’s life, Allan and his family would say if you do not know Christ, today is the day to put your trust in him.
·
Romans 3:10
As it is written: "There is none righteous, no, not one; We need to realized that we have all sinned,
Romans 3:23
For all have sinned and come short of the Glory of God.
Romans 6:23
- For the wages of Sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord
·
Romans 10:9-10
that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
·
Romans 10:13
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Maybe you are here because you knew Allan, by work, being a neighbor
Or you have grown up with Gabe and Tristen,
Wanting to support Carrie, well you are here for a reason.
Maybe today you need to hear that Christ gave His life for you and that you need to put your faith and trust in Christ.
Bow your heads - Today we have heard that if I do not know Christ I can have a relationship with, If you want that today you can pray something like this
Lord I am a sinner – I am in need of you. I want that joy that Allan had, I believe that you died on the cross for me, I know that you were buried and on the third day rose again. I ask that you forgive me of my sins, I ask you now to save me Lord. Help me to live a life for you. Thank you for saving me, In Jesus name Amen.
If you just did that today, please share that with others. If you would like to come and discuss this with me or the Pastor, we will be available at the end of this service.
Thank you for being here and loving on this precious family.
I would like to close with Allan’s favorite verse
Isaiah 40:31
But those who wait on the LORD Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.
