Unending Light

Eternal Light

. Over the last few weeks Ps Keith has been talking about the light that we know carry because of our faith in Jesus, Jesus himself tells us in

Matthew 5:14 NKJV

“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.

. This is an incredibly important statement for us as believers, to begin to comprehend that We, you and I, are now carriers of this light to the world, a light that was given to shine through even the darkest places.

John 1:4–5 NKJV

In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.

. This light that we carry, that has been passed onto us as disciples of Jesus is an eternal light, this is something that will never end will never be put out or extinguished.

. In fact this light that we are speaking of has been around since the very beginning of creation.

Genesis 1:1–3 NKJV

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.

. These are the first words that were spoken by God in scripture, and it is talking about the moment that this light of God came into the world, the same light that Jesus carried, and the same light that we we now have within us.

. That has been given so that we the church, the chosen called apart ones of God, can live our lives in such a way that brings change to the world around, that imparts something that is different compared to the darkness that is in the world.

. In fact according to genesis ! before this light came into existence the darkness covered the face of the earth, but from the moment that Gods light entered the world there has not been, nor will there ever be a moment where the darkness overcomes the light.

. You see it doesn't matter how much darkness is in a place the moment the light enters that place, the darkness cannot overcome it.

. So what does this mean for us?

. We know that this world that we live in has issues, we know there is plenty of darkness in the world, and we know that the enemy uses this darkness and the fear that is associated with it to try and bring more and more chaos to the world.

. There are people around in and everyone of us, who only know chaos in there lives, who have been so caught up the the darkness for so long that it is just normal to them, who may never have known this light that we are talking about and that we carry.

. yet when we show up in there lives and we connect with these people they immediately notice something different, and its this light that we carry, this eternal light that God spoke into being, and from the moment it came it overpowered the darkness, begins to bring change and to bring hope to people that they have never known before.

. but the enemy wants you i believe that what we carry is not strong enough to overpower him and the things that he is doing, he wants you and i to believe that the light we carry cannot shine through the darkness.

. and the reason he wants to try and convince us of this is because he is scared, he is scared of what you can do in this world as a carrier of this light we have.

. You have the power within you to bring light and hope and truth into the lives of those who have never known it before.

. and yet its like Kieth spoke about on Sunday morning, when we get scared and when we begin to believe the lies that we are not enough, and we don't have what it takes, we try to hide this light, we try to hide away form opportunity to show and to share this light with the world.

. This is what i really want to share with you tonight, this light that you carry is no ordinary light, this light is not something that can be turned on and off, this light is an eternal light that has existed form the moment God spoke it into being, and has been used by him to give life to us, and to give hope to us.

. There is no greater moment for us to shine this light we have been given then right now, there is a desperate need for hope in our communities, there is a desperate need for the truth in the lives of people around us.

. The choice really is up to you, will you choose to shine the eternal light of God through your life into the lives of those around you? or will you choose to try and hide it away and not upset anyone and just try to keep it to yourself?

Matthew 5:14–16 (NKJV)

14 “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

. It was not given to be hiding away it was given so that this life we now have and these freedom form darkness, can be passed on and shared with those around us.

. There is nothing that can overcome or overpower this light that is in you, this eternal light, is life for all in the world.

. The future for you and for us as a church, right now is opening up before us like never before.

. Lets stand like the bright city on a hill that we are called to be and shine this light that is life for all people.

. You will never be disappointed with what happens when you let this light shine for all to see.
