Mephibosheth-

is a reminder of the blessings of Covenant-

You have priviledges because of the Covenant relationship you would have otherwise known nothing about-

You may be thinking - how can this story in anyway be connected to Advent?

Good question-

For me, it is a reminder of how we- just like Mephibosheth- can come to the table- because one Came in order that we might be able to be in Covenant with Him-

We now have access-

We now have a Seat-

We now are no longer living out in the wilderness- but have been brought to the King- and now experience the blessings of that Relationship-

God intruding into the word to show kindness-

Christmas is God lighting a candle in the midst of the darkness-

Christmas rescue mission

Radical

God’s way of saving us-

we are like Mephibosheth

he was given a seat at the Kings table-

From now on- I decree that this is your seat-

lame legs-

Pass the Biscuits- Mephibosheth-

Lodebar- no pasture-

so remote-

now in Capital city- sitting at the table-

food- lavishly prepared-

inside jokes-

What did it take?

God’s own Son coming and willing to be born-
