Good evening everyone watching by video this evening,,, it's time for our weekly devotion.
And the scripture will come from my devotion book titled "Wisdom for Each Day" by Billy Graham.
The scripture for this evening is Romans 1:20
I'll be reading from the Holman Christian Standard Bible.
Romans 1:20 (HCSB)
20 For His invisible attributes, that is, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen since the creation of the world, being understood through what He has made. As a result, people are without excuse.
God bless the reading and the hearing of your word this evening.
Let us pray:
Dear Lord,,, as we begin this evening,,, with all that are listening and watching by video,,, we ask that you open our ears to hear and our hearts and minds to receive the message that you have for us today,,, In Jesus' name I pray,,, Amen.
---------------
In my devotion this morning,,, Billy Graham asked if faith is illogical?
He said that If you listen to some people, the answer would appear to be,,, “Yes.”
Every year books hit the best seller lists announcing that faith in God is dead,,,
every year college students would write to him wondering why their professors reject God,,,
every year talk show hosts promoted the latest self-help gurus claiming to solve all of our problems.
But,,, he wanted you to know that even with all of this,,, the answer is,,, No, not at all.
He said that some of the most brilliant people he had ever known were also men and women of deep faith in Christ,,, and without exception,,, they believed in the Gospel,,, because it made sense.
Believing our intricate world happened by accident,,, they said,,, takes more faith than believing in God!
I agree,,, because if you have ever seen a picture of earth that has been taken from outer space,,, you can see how well balanced everything is.
Scientist have spoken before about how small of a tilt it would take in the earth's rotations,,, to change the seasons that we experience.
With all of the information that we have today,,, it's amazing that we still use "theories" to try to convince people that the Bible isn't true.
My Bible Knowledge Commentary says that since the beginning of time,,, "The argument here is clear: Creation demands a Creator. Design demands a Designer. By looking up at the sun, moon, and stars, anyone can know there is a God".
But Billy Graham said,,, there was another reason these brilliant men and women used to explain their faith.
They were convinced Jesus Christ was who He claimed to be,,, which was,,, God in human flesh,,, sent to save us from our sins.
As I've said before,,, the fact that the disciples were such changed people after they seen the resurrected Jesus,,, convinces me that Jesus was who He said that He was.
And,,, as the scripture above proclaims,,, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen since the creation of the world, being understood through what He has made. As a result, people are without excuse.
Don’t be misled,,, but rejoice,,, that in Christ “are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge” (Colossians 2:3).
