1 We give thanks to You, O God, we give thanks, For Your name is near; Men declare Your wondrous works.
Its thanksgiving week and I wanted to just talk about some things that i am thankful for.
1 It is good to give thanks to the Lord And to sing praises to Your name, O Most High;
i choose to be thankful forThe cross
i choose to be thankful forThe cross
I often say,
The debt i made, Christ paid.
18 knowing that you were not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from your futile way of life inherited from your forefathers,
19 but with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ.
23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
the wages, the expence, the payment of price, for sin!! is death
and for something guilty to live, some innocent must die.
thats why it says we are redeemed with but precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ.
Christ Himself gave His life so that we might have life and the forgiveness of sin.
45 “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”
I choose to be thankful, because He is good
I choose to be thankful, because He is good
1 Praise the Lord! Oh give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; For His lovingkindness is everlasting.
1 I will give thanks to the Lord with all my heart; I will tell of all Your wonders.
2 I will be glad and exult in You; I will sing praise to Your name, O Most High.
8 O taste and see that the Lord is good; How blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him!
Even on our bad days, he remains Good.
17 Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow.
Corrie Ten Boom
Often I have heard people say, "How good God is! We prayed that it would not rain for our church picnic, and look at the lovely weather!'" Yes, God is good when He sends good weather. But God was also good when He allowed my sister, Betsie, to starve to death before my eyes in a German concentration camp. I remember one occasion when I was very discouraged there. Everything around us was dark, and there was darkness in my heart. I remember telling Betsie that I thought God had forgotten us. "No, Corrie," said Betsie, "He has not forgotten us. Remember His Word: 'For as the heavens are high above the earth, so great is His steadfast love toward those who fear Him.'" Corrie concludes, "There is an ocean of God's love available--there is plenty for everyone. May God grant you never to doubt that victorious love--whatever the circumstances."
Corrie concludes, "There is an ocean of God's love available--there is plenty for everyone. May God grant you never to doubt that victorious love--whatever the circumstances."
She says no matter what the circumstance not matter what the event.. no matter how hard the times.
His love is always available for those who would yet but taste and see.

22 He who finds a wife finds a good thing And obtains favor from the Lord.
If you have you found a wife, you have found a good think and need to be thankful
10 An excellent wife, who can find? For her worth is far above jewels.
When you find her, youll never be able to afford her.
thankful for children.
3 Behold, children are a gift of the Lord, The fruit of the womb is a reward.
2 Honor your father and mother (which is the first commandment with a promise),
why? because parents are a gift.
I choose to be thankful for The Church

4 Enter His gates with thanksgiving And His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him, bless His name.
5 For the Lord is good; His lovingkindness is everlasting And His faithfulness to all generations.
The church is a gift
25 not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near.
Why shouldn't we forsake gathering together? because the church is a gift especially in the time we live in now
in the church we,
13 bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone; just as the Lord forgave you, so also should you.
26 What is the outcome then, brethren? When you assemble, each one has a psalm, has a teaching, has a revelation, has a tongue, has an interpretation. Let all things be done for edification.
The church is the place we are edified
I choose to be thankful for this nation
I choose to be thankful for this nation
About 400 years or so ago. A group of Christian people in England, found themselves very unhappy because they were not allowed to pray to their God freely from their heart in a way that they want.
King James the first said they must use the same prayer to God that he did and if they refused they where persecuted, jailed, or even killed.
So to escape this treatment these people left their home and fled to Holland. There they were happy but poor.
And when the children grew older they became less God like and they did not want to pray anymore.
These man and woman decided to go on a pilgrimage to a new world America.
So they hopped on a ship with about 100 people and sailed to the new world.
And by spring only 57 of them survived
The group's charter required that the day of arrival be observed yearly as a "day of thanksgiving" to God. On that first day, Captain John Woodleaf held the service of thanksgiving.
Upon their arrival some friendly Indian came to help them and taught them how to plant corn wheat peas.
After the winter, and after the summer. The pilgrims and their children where happy and in autumn they found the corn wheat had grown so well that they would have enough to last the long winter,
So they said, “Let us thanks God for it all.”
So they had a thanksgiving party
26 Bless God in the congregations, Even the Lord, you who are of the fountain of Israel.
Lets look at this verse in the amplified verse
26 Bless, give thanks, and gratefully praise God in full congregations, even the Lord, O you who are from [Jacob] the fountain of Israel.
In giving thanks we express our gratefulness.
When i choose to be thankful, i choose to be grateful.
I choose to be thankful for this nation.
One nation, under God.
Not a perfect union, but i am thankful.
In a sermon at Immanuel Presbyterian Church in Los Angeles, Gary Wilburn said: "In 1636, amid the darkness of the Thirty Years' War, a German pastor, Martin Rinkart, is said to have buried five thousand of his parishioners in one year, and average of fifteen a day. His parish was ravaged by war, death, and economic disaster. In the heart of that darkness, with the cries of fear outside his window, he sat down and wrote this table grace for his children: 'Now thank we all our God / With heart and hands and voices;/ Who wondrous things had done,/ In whom His world rejoices. /Who, from our mother's arms,/Hath led us on our way/ With countless gifts of love/ And still is ours today.'"Here was a man who knew thanksgiving comes from love of God, not from outward circumstances.
