What is the purpose of this story?
This story follows the rebellion by Korah and his men. God wanted to put his stamp of approval upon his leadership, to separate them from the false ones.
Korah and family are swallowed by the ground - in front of everyone - that must have been a horrifying tramautic experience
But God wasn't finished - he sent fire upon the 250 men of Reuben who was with Korah.
Then they took their sensors they were using to offer incense to God - and beat them into a sheet to cover the altar as a memorial.
Then Moses called for the men to bring their sticks into the presence of God.
It was to also put an end to grumbling and complaining that the Children of Israel were so prone to do.
God was establishing rules of leadership - God does this so thoroughly that it was established forever and a memorial made.
A miracle - Almond tree's bud in January bloom in March that's when the branch is connected to the tree. This stick was cut from the tree and overnight it budded, blossomed, and brought forth almonds.
Now I believe that God puts his stamp of approval on lives that are pleasing to him. He blesses in their testimonies - witnesses that what they say is true.
He will bless them in other areas of life
They will blossom, bloom and bring forth fruit.
