Remarks should be no longer than 2 minutes.
Scripture and Meditation:
1. DEATH IS CERTAIN
Death stares at us upon all sides. The fields the other day were green; now they are brown.
The tree that stood outside our window was a thing of beauty; now nothing is left but the old lifeless trunk.
In our childhood there were strong men who were wonders to us because of their deeds, and manly strength. And now they are fragile or gone?
With their names on gravestones… No matter who we are, one thing is certain and that is death.
The word of God even teaches...
1 Peter 1:24 ESV
for “All flesh is like grass and all its glory like the flower of grass. The grass withers, and the flower falls,
2. DEATH IS OFTEN SUDDEN
Read the columns of the newspapers, and notice how many have recently left into eternity.
How few really expect death when it comes!
To be honest thats one reality that most of us choose to avoid.
God teaches us that life is brief; “But a vapor;” “A flower of the field.” That its end is uncertain.
“You dont know what a day may bring forth.” So live with purpose every day.
3. DEATH ENDS ALL
“Just as water spilt on the ground cannot be gathered up again, nor can we live our life here on earth again once its been lived.”
While here on earth we are all given an opputunity on where we will spend the afterlife for all eternity.
Hebrews 9:27 ESV
And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment,
4. PREPARATION FOR DEATH IS NECESSARY
Most of us live our lives for the here and now, but we must all realize that it is important to also consider the afterlife.
2 Corinthians 4:18b ESV
as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.
These “eternal” things need to be prepared for today.
Because we are strong it seems to us as if we would live here forever, but the reality of death is that we must all be ready.
So how do we make this preparation?
John 14:6 ESV
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Psalm 23:4 ESV
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
Romans 10:9 ESV
because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
Romans 10:10 ESV
For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.
Preparring is as easy as A.B.C...
A) Accept Jesus Christ in you life today.
B) Believe and have faith in Him
C) Change Confess your sins and ask God to remove them from your life.
