Ephesians 2:1-3
Ephesians 2:1–3 NASB95
And you were dead in your trespasses and sins, in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience. Among them we too all formerly lived in the lusts of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest.

“You were dead.”

There is nothing a dead man can do to save himself.

“were by nature children of wrath”

Born the seed of Adam
sinful DNA
under the control of sin and the “Prince of the power of the air”
This is why your only hope was God’s mercy.

God Showed Us His Mercy

God is rich in mercy!
Ephesians 2:4
Ephesians 2:4 NASB95
But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us,
Out of His great love He showed you mercy!
He did not give us what we deserved
He gave us what we didn’t deserve.
Only because Christ took our punishment upon Himself.

God Gave Us His Grace

Ephesians 2:5
Ephesians 2:5 NASB95
even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),
He made us alive together in Christ.

Christ’s victories are our victories.

God raised us up with Him
old man was crucified
we have been raised unto a new life
God seated us with Him
He has given us His power

God Saved Us for His Glory

Ephesians 2:8-10
Ephesians 2:8–10 NASB95
For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.
It is to His glory we have been saved
we were saved by His grace
our salvation is His gift
“We are His workmanship!”
He saved us for His purpose!
We were...“Created in Christ for good works which God prepared beforehand that we would walk in them.”
The church (we) are administrators of God’s mercy, grace, and love to the world (to our personal world).

The Church is God’s Eternal Glory

Ephesians 5:25-27
Ephesians 5:25–27 NASB95
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her, so that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, that He might present to Himself the church in all her glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she would be holy and blameless.
