31 but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name.
If there is anything we as God’s children should convey to the world about Christmas, it is that it’s all about life and the one who gives life!
As the world continues clambering to protect itself from the virus, it comes up with nothing but inadequate remedies.
We look under every rock to find a way!
We trust every so called expert to path our way to life!
But, we will not look to the only one who has the answer!
Christmas on the other hand, provides the very elixir the masses need to think level headed.
It shows us the wonder and the care of God.
It reveals the very heart of a loving and benevolent Father who has prepared everything necessary to provide for His children.
When we celebrate Christmas, we give the world a glimpse of the hope found in Christ.
But, we must celebrate it biblically and openly!
You see -
I. Life came to us in a personal way.
I. Life came to us in a personal way.
2 “But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, Though you are little among the thousands of Judah, Yet out of you shall come forth to Me The One to be Ruler in Israel, Whose goings forth are from of old, From everlasting.”
14 Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.
There are other celebrations going on during the Advent season, they are a distraction to deflect the world’s attention from Christ.
Yes, they have their place and they make people happy, but they still serve to draw people’s attention away from the God man who is pursuing them.
These and all other celebrations at this season, are totally inept and unable to give people the hope they need.
We don’t have a fairy tale to tell. We have the true History of the God man who came to earth for the souls of mankind.
We should not be surprised that the world has a difficult time believing in the facts surrounding the supernatural coming of Christ, after all, why would they? The fairy tale Christmas stories that are so prevalent in our culture are only things that entertain children.
The very concocted scheme of a Jolly old man delivering toys, to the world in one night, only serves to inoculate people with an unbelief of the supernatural incarnation of Christ.
Once we grow up, we put away childish things, right?
True life came to us in a very personal way!
A. He was born in obscurity and poverty.
B. He was born in controversy.
Marry’s pregnancy was thought to be suspicious
C. He came into the world as a man.
Not a religious leader or in royalty, but as a carpenter’s son.
II. Life is only found in the person of Jesus Christ.
II. Life is only found in the person of Jesus Christ.
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
This alone explains why there is so much fear and trepidation in our world over this virus.
It’s not that the virus is a myth, or that it isn’t a real threat to some people, it’s that Jesus has overcome it and every other thing that presents itself a threat.
I think there is a problem with the way people (and this includes those within the church), look at life.
People compartmentalize Life.
They have their mortal life now.
They have their everlasting life later.
This may account for the very reason some struggle to live by faith.
They are making decisions now that affect them now!
They worry about the daily things that affect them here.
They grow anxious about what’s happening around them.
They spend much energy praying over things that do not matter.
They are not thinking about later, because they’ll tend to that when this life is over!
But, Isn’t life in Christ, one life to live now and forever?
Did we not enter into His life the moment we believed?
What if we lived now with the understanding that we are already in eternity?
We might start to discover that not everything we’ve held to is as important as we made it seem.
We might even begin to understand that we can sacrifice much anguish of spirit when we see life through the eyes of Jesus.
Conclusion:
We celebrate Christmas for these reasons, and so that the world could see also!
Our faith in Christ and the celebration of Christmas cannot be hidden away in private.
We need to show Christmas to the world.
